The Hobbit Hole XVI - Still round the corner there may wait...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner there may wait...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Did you ever see "The Gettysburg Address in Powerpoint"? I think it's on the web somewhere...

Better that than the Bible, anyway :)

Burns Civil War...DVD

That's one of my "must buy on DVD" items (as opposed to my "when I can afford a DVD writer or a stand-alone DVR/DVD-R, I'll copy that from VHS" items).

So cotton-pickin' expensive!

AHA! (Biiiig smile)

Actually, you're the first one to ask :)

That's when I can start moving into the new apartment...

And I "built" it in "The Sims" so I could show y'all...my room is the one with the full-size bed and bookcases and the attached 3/4 bath...my cousin is in the room with the big closet, and has primary use and cleaning responsibility for the full bath.

The blue refrigerator is actually the HVAC, and the patio is actually a balcony; it's on the third floor overlooking a golf course.

We joked with the leasing agent that we could hand-launch RC aircraft from the balcony and land them on the green...

Thanks :)

Of course, it's just a bit off...scale and so on. It's a fair approximation, but the "ground truth" may be somewhat, even significantly different.

Evening EGE - re; the countdown LSA told me she figured it was when you were moving - seems she was right. :-) That was a cool drawing in SIMS of the apartment, looks like a great 'batch pad'. But if you're thinking of launching RC aircraft off the balcony, you sure have mellowed a bit. I was figuring more like 'projectiles and/or explosives'. :-)

There was some debate over model rocketry...

But along with the idea of sniping at Bill Murray's gophers with a .22, that did not come up in the leasing agent's hearing :)

Confession: two of them are for videos and one for knickknacks.

In fact, I've bought a barrister bookcase with four compartments for display and use of certain items. It may go in the living room, tho...

And yes'm, the remaining 72" bookcases will be just full of books :D

I wonder though...would anyone on the ground really notice the crack of, say, a .22 short fired 40 feet up? Hmmm....

No. I wouldn't. shouldn't. mustn't. won't.

The storybook sounds like a wonderful idea! Thinking of doing that for NaNo?

Dinner turned out well. We took the practice test for the midterm and did ok. She brought over Stargate SG1 for me to borrow, and we finished off disk one of Fruits Basket. All in all, success

Wouldn't be for NaNo - I'm keeping that idea. But it'd be practice, as I said before. I'm going to see if I can think of a decent plot by tomorrow, and get started tomorrow evening. Try to get in two thousand words or so.

Yeah, I need to get my day's practice in. Fortunately had a bit of plot lying around that shouldn't be taken seriously anyway.

Cool! Which season?

Oh... just a thought, but have you seen the movie Stargate? If not, you may want to watch it before watching the TV series.
