Good evening, FRiends.

I have been considering getting laser eye surgery to correct my vision (ahsytigmatism (sp?)).

Any FREEPERs have any advice on this procedure? Is there any major drawbacks? Would you do it again?

P.S. If you don't mind disclosing, how much did the procedure cost?

4 years ago got Lasik in both eyes. I had astigmatism also and was near sighted. It was the best thing I ever did. I now have 20/20 vision. It is a little more difficult to read small print these days, but I still don't require reading glasses. Of course, before the Lasik I could focus on small print about six inches in front of me. Now I need at least 15 inches to focus. Can see distant objects clearly now.

No more messing with glasses and contacts. It cost $1800 for both eyes, think it may be even cheaper today.

Are you going to the one in Daytona? I think he is about the best around that I have heard of. Filutkowski.

I had Lasik surgery about 5 years ago. I had pretty poor vision and severe astigmatism. It was the best thing I've ever done. I still am amazed when I get up in the morning and can see!! I wasn't one of those people who walked out of the office and could instantly see better. My vision improved gradually after the surgery. I had it done in Boston from a surgeon who had done many many proceedures since it was relatively new and there were not many experienced doctors in my area of CT. At the time it was almost $5000. A lot cheaper now.

I had it done about six years ago and can echo the positive comments here. It was much more expensive then and still worth every penny.

Ping to all who'd replied thus far.

Thank you for all of your replies. I am scheduling the surgery on Monday and having the procedure soon.

Lastly, $1800 or less...I'm very happy about that. 8^)
