Poll was taken just after the debate. Like an exit poll.

If your talking election hypotheticals it's true....for every office but president.

Pat Cadell has been on FoxNews a numbe rof times has said that in presidential elections, undecideds break to the incumbent - because it's a safe choice.

yes, and these mean about as much as what a child has to have in a grocery store RIGHT NOW!

It's meaningless, either way.

In my opinion that's a spike of the moment, which will settle down some in 24-48 hours, especially once the Bush team start posting commercials of some of Kerry's worse gaffes.

Before the debates, Bush was up 6-8 points with some 6% undecided. If the 2:1 number doesn't diminish, that's 4 points for Kerry and 2 for Bush. This would mean Bush is still up by 4-5 points.

"Instapolls" are not nearly as important in shaping public opinion as the "lunch room" polls over the next few days. Kerry was "senatorial." Bush was "presidential."

I belive what you are speaking of is the group of 6 "Undecided" voters that they polled after the show.

Included in the list of "undecideds" were traditional Dim voting block people. All of them said domestic issues were more important that what was discussed tonight. If this is what will decide the "undecided" vote, I fear for our nation. A few more bucks in their pocket, a bit lower gas price, saving the money from fighting the war on terror and moving it over to social programs...if these decide the election, I fear we are in for our own version of the Russian school shooting...

Anybody remember Clinton's speech in August 1998, where he finally admitted to having an affair with Monica? The polls taken right after the speech said he did a great job, and Clinton's spinners were all on TV saying he hit a home run. It wasn't until days later that it became clear to the media and the RATS that the speech was a disaster.

These are the undecideds that were watching the debate. Most were asleep, and will only see the news summaries and sound-bytes tomorrow. They won't see Bush's long, uncomfortable pauses. They'll hear that Kerry sends mixed signals, that Bush will use pre-emptive force to keep us safe, while Kerry use pre-emptive force if it passes the "Global Test".

Bush also wins the post-debate ad war. Kerry gave Bush a lot of ammo for Bush to use, but not the other way around. For example, Kerry continually referred to our Iraq effort using different forms of the words "occupation" and "invasion".
