Okay guys, lets take a trip down memory lane. If I remember correctly in 2000, this is almost exactly what the MSM media did to Bush the first time. They said he screwed up, blew it.
Lets review the facts of what really happened in the debate.
-Bush did not land a knock out punch, but did not have to. (I know we all wanted him to) -Kerry was constantly on the attack and did NOT offer any plan. It was one attack after another. There was no substance to it at all. -Bush stayed focused on the one message which has been resonating, we need to stay the course until the iraqi people can defend them selves, then we leave. -Kerry mentioned vietnam and even closed with the same statment he used at his convention. -Bush got Kerry to flip-flop several times during the debate.. my wife (who does not like politics at all noticed this even).
Finally. Remember who and what the focus of the debate is - to reach undecided voters and women. All Kerry did was tear at Bush, that the war was a screw up and that only he (who bashes the war as a mistake, then flopped back after leher's question) could save the country.
Ask your self if a voter is going to believe that? My wife was ticked off at the arrogance Kerry portrayed, but loved how bush came across as just an average person.
Remember guys, Bush is not the most elloquent speaker, but he did get the points across. Also remember that not every one watched the debate the entire time. Most americans probably quit after a while.
There were no major gaffes or slip ups by either opponent. Kerry, however, did flip flop several times. I hope we will be seeing those flip flops (especially after he said he had a single policy) in an advertisment.
The best thing Kerry did was to try and give red meat to his base.
Think people. Think about 2000. The MSM is doing the exact same thing they did in 2000.
good summary. Bush had to merely hold his ground and be likeable, kerry had to deliver a knockout blow. Bush did, kerry didn't.
as Fox pointed out, even when W did one of his long pauses, many people were thinking, "he talks just like me". We all know he is smarter than his tongue, and he has proven that he knows how to pick the right crew. I, as usual, give him my support and prayers.
Exactly.
Remember, us political junkies see things differently. Hence why I listen to the wisdom of my wife.
Finally, someone watched the same debate that I did. ;)
Really, W made a basic point on his resolute approach to the WOT. Kerry was like a carping teenager.
Kerry looked like a whiner, Bush looked like a president.
Clean up, puh-leeeeze...
Yes, yes you are correct Conner. We all wanted the knock out blow.. just because Bush did not deliever it the way we WANTED it, doesnt mean that Bush lost the debate.
I am simply offering a little bit of history. Bush never KO'd anyone in a debate. That is what the advertisments and the grass-roots operatives are for.. to get the word out.
Bush did somthing I believe women want. Instead of NAGGING on the past, he presented an optimistic future.
Go ahead, tell me a SINGLE positive thing (or plan) Kerry said that would specifically fix the problem in Iraq. This is what women and undecides are looking for and is why Bush is winning. Kerry is a one note candidate, and that is to trash Bush and "ride the hurricane" to victory. Well guess what, people are smarter than that.
Kerry must provide a vision. Ask your self what vision Kerry present him self as tonight? The only thing I heard is that he would internationalize stuff. Do you think your wife would want your children or nation security hanging in the balance while it "passes the global" test.
Learn to spell "loser" correctly, you ignorant moron. You will need to use it frequently on Nov. 3 in describing Kerry. Now crawl back under your rock.
I agree. This was a tough debate. Kerry attacked full force....Bush was equally tough and stood up to him. Therefore Bush wins.
Actually I don't think he could have finished the election tonight. This is a marathon, not a sprint. The course has shown Kerry peaking about 2 months ago, while the President is beginning to peak. A 15 point lead tomorrow means absolutely nothing compared to a 15 point lead on 11/2.
The President and his team have the advantage of momentum. You certainly don't want to lose it, but you also don't want to peak to aerly. The goal is to peak on 11/2 and emotion won't do it - just look at Dean.
Your girls are calling.
that's the point. he didn't have to. He just had to be pleasant and presidential. Seeing politicians go negative turns people off. Having their underlings go negative doesn't. Bush has other people to do the things you want done. And they will over the next week. But the effects will be better because nobody will be turned off by saying "that bush was so mean and nasty".
However, they will be likely to say the same things about kerry.
Kerry was in a debate he couldn't win. Try too hard (like he did) and he comes across as mean and negative. Bush comes across normally and is a stark contrast to kerry.
Yours is probably the most cogent thinking I have seen on any thread so far tonight. Great to have you aboard.
Yours is probably the most cogent thinking

Thank you. Just calling as I see it.. And as the boss tells me. :)
What's a looser? Is that anything like John Kerry, a loser?
Who is NIZON?
Also, I think you mean your nick to say YOUARELOSERS. Looser defines something as being not tight. Loser defines someone as not being a winner. Out of 4 words in your post you misspelled two of them. Talk about a real loser.
Thank you. My thoughts exactly.
