The eastern Iowa town of Riverside -- whose claim to fame is that it is the future birthplace of Captain James T. Kirk of "Star Trek" fame -- has been duped.
William ShatnerWilliam Shatner, who played Kirk, let Riverside in on his secret Tuesday night that the town is the unwitting cast of a reality television show.
Shatner originally said he chose Riverside as the location to shoot a science fiction movie he wrote called "Invasion Iowa."
But now the truth is out.
Shatner said the filming done in Riverside will be used for a show that will be shown in 2005 on cable channel Spike TV.
To soften the blow, Shatner and his co-producers are donating $100,000 to Riverside for community projects.
The cast and crew also passed the hat and collected $12,000 for a book fund at Riverside Elementary School.

Just found out that she Became a California state senator. She was also a Former Playboy Bunny at New York City Playboy Club, Was Jack Nickelson's love interest in Hells Angels on Wheels and was the girl who Dennis Hopper tried to snag in the Hippie Commune in Easy Rider. Also guested on Hawaii 5-0, Mannix and a bunch of others.
 That's quite a resume.

Very cute. But I lived in Shatner's home town, Montreal, for 28 years, I've done my bit. :^)

I have a soft spot for old Bill, but i understand he's a real pill to work with! He sure was a 'pill' to me when I tried to get his autograph during the filming of a 'Loblaws' commercial.(between takes, just standing around). I was 12, and loved Star Trek.
 Until that moment.

I once got to see Scotty at a gaming convention. Didn't get to talk to him, though!

The queen of all Star Trek ladies still has to be Joan Collins (and a Thatcherite to boot!)

Dangerous 12 year old fan, don't ya know. He was never, ever, that mean to Mr. Spock, and he didn't even have feelings to hurt.
 Lol.

thanks, I was thinking he got it for his role as "big giant head" in third rock from the sun.

They practically HAD to give it to him. The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences painted themselves into a corner by never recognizing his superb work in T.J. Hooker. ;)
