Email from my Mom (Jeannie)...
Friends & family,
I received this from a friend whose young son has served 3 tours in Iraq. I know there are so many soldiers over there that do not have anyone here at home to hear from. I have asked a friend over there now to please send names of soldiers who need mail. It doesnt matter what your feelings are about this war, our precious troops need our support.
Thanks to those of you who wish to send this soldier a note of encouragement. It doesnt have to be wordy or long. Just for him to be of good faith and courage and to know that we are thinking about him.
Love to all,
Jeannie
Subject: Marine needs e-mail
a Marine in iraq....he is north of Fallujah. He is an Arabic linguist also, and he is the only one. he has to go out on all patrols. Could you email him? He needs positive contact from all of us safe at home.
his email address is :- hm1dan@yahoo.com
please pass that along to all of our Marines.
in your first emails please put in the subject something like "Sierra Vista Marines, or "Friends of your Brother."
he is not having an easy time.
ping to me to send email.......
God Bless his heart. I will send an e-mail also and have friends do the same. He won't know what to do with all the warm wishes!!
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to help a soldier in need in this manner.....
Has anybody received a reply from the Marine, or is this some elaborate hoax to get emails for a spam list, or a way for a "bad guy" to get contact info on American patriots?
VMA(AW) 242, Cpl, 1983-1988 HM1 is Headquarters and Maintenance Squadron. But there used to be no HM1, only HM13, HM 12, and HM 11. (The Marine Corps did some tinkering with 3rd MAW - so maybe there is an HM1 now)
Forgive my paranoia, but I don't like spam list trolls.
Thanks for the ping, Tonk.
Email sent!
Good idea, thanks.
Thanks for the ping Misty.

Thank you and thank you, Tonkin Gulf for the ping. Email has been sent and hopefully he will be so deluged from FR, he will find the need to pass our addresses around to his buddies so everyone can enjoy mail from home.

Hi All,
My family recently "adopted" a Marine and a sailor through two different organizations. So if anyone is interested here's where you can find them:
www.soldiersangels.com
www.operationac.com
It's been great. Our sailor is on the USS Blue Ridge and the Marine is in Al-Asad, Iraq. My girls love sending them pictures and stuff.

Bump!
Will do!
Thanks for the bump, MistyCA
Where did your Mom's friend Jeannie get this email? Was it forwarded to her or does someone she knows really know this fellow?
My main thing is sending care packages to our troops in harm's way.
If you can verify that this person is real, and if you'll FReepmail me his real name and APO, I will see to it that his unit gets lots of care packages.
References available upon request.
Cheers!

Hello Marine!
I am writing to you from the Land of the Big PX - are ya'll still calling it that?
I was made aware of your lack of mail and the tough time you are having over there, being the only Arabic-language linguist in your unit.
I just wanted you to know that the folks back home REALLY appreciate your service to our Country.
Personally, I wanted you to know that I think you and your fellow Marines and soldiers are ALL heroes, in every sense of the word. Every night, I pray to God Almighty to keep you all safe, and to give you strength.
God Bless you, Marine! Hoooooo Ahhhhh!
