I have been given the opportunity of a life time. My friend has tickets to sit right behind the Yankees dugout at Fenway on Sunday Sept 26, 2004. I would be every interested in ideas on signs that you think might make a lasting impression on the Yankees, since I am a Redsox fan.
Post away and look for the signs on ESPN.
We toyed with the idea of heading up to Fenway, to try to buy scalped tickets, or watch the game in a bar near the park, but we just can't take the time for the trip up and back...
"Sherry" Francona has GOT to GO!
Or, if they win: MANNY ORTEZ FOR MVP! (my husband - zelig's - suggestions)
Just another out of state guy on the band wagon.
Maybe you could do a play on the Pedro calling the Yankees his daddy remark. Kerry to Bush: You're my daddy!
Well, your prediction was wrong, but right for Boston. That was a cliff-hanger. Right up until the 8th inning, it was up for grabs. When the Sox scored that 6th run, I knew it was all over and turned the game off. Couldn't believe they scored 6 more runs afer that.
If Schilling is on today, I guess Boston will win that one, too.
I pretty much expected today's win by the BoSox with Schilling on the mound. Saturday night's game was a stunner, though... I really expected a Yankee win.
I watched the entire game today on NESN, but didn't see your (or anyone's) sign above the Yankee dugout... I don't think the camera panned that area even once.
We sat down at the dugout and I pulled my signs out when the game began. I never realized how close you really are.
The signs I made were "Support out troops and Free Republic, Cleveland vs NY, 22-0 Aug, Yanks go home and take Kerry with you,Kerry's favorite player, Manny Ortez", THE NEW YORK YANKEES: LOWEST VICTORY-PER-DOLLAR, TEAM IN BASEBALL, and a sign for our local NESN tv station.
They would not let me hold the signs up during game play, only during a change on the field. Which was fine. The sign I held up most and got the most attention was the 22-0 one. Every player looked right at it when they came to the dugout. Half of them make a smerk. The second most popular one was the "THE NEW YORK YANKEES: LOWEST VICTORY-PER-DOLLAR, TEAM IN BASEBALL". This is when I caught Jeter and A Rod reading it. Jeter made a half smile then smerked, and A Rod tightened his lips. I knew he was pissed because when he left the field and had a ball that ended the inning and he jogged to the dugout. Everyone was asking for the ball, he started to toss the ball underhand to me. Then at the last second he snatched it back out of the air, put it in his glove and shook his head from side to side. At that point the crowd just lit into him. The next inning he and Jeter were out of the game and they walked back and forth outside the dugout just enough for them to watch the crowd. From time to time Jeter would look at the signs.
It was a great game if you were a Sox fan. Were arrived there 2 hours before the game and to get out friend situated in his seat since he is in a wheelchair. This was his first Red Sox game ever. It is amazing to watch all the famous players who are still involved in baseball just wonder around the field talking to the crowd.
Thanks again everyone and I will try and post some interesting pics when I get them.
