The man is brain dead.
In other words the UN was to get the money for Iraqi oil sold up to a limit (x barrels a day) and then disburse it for Humanitarian aid in Iraq.
In fact the tickets were issued at way below market value. They were supposed to be issued for market value. But by buying Iraqi oil at way below market price the ticket holder could then make a killing on the oil... Lets say buy it at $15 a barrel and sell it for the market price of $25 a barrel.
For going along with the scam, Saddam would get 5 dollars of the difference between $15 dolars paid and the $25 dollars sale price. The UN buddie would get 5 bucks for his trouble for selling the oil.
Sometimes it is believed that all the money was split between Saddam and his UN buddies. In those cases the sick and hungery in Iraq got nothing from the sale.
It was a nice big UN scam done at the expense of the Iraqi people by their good friends at the UN.
..Everywhere you drive....starting with my own neighborhood, but especially beachside, there are huge piles of palm fronds, debris, large mounds of carpet... sitting by the curb waiting for pickup.....and who knows when the pickup will come.
Everyone's doing their best to clean, sweep, tidy....
..but places are still boarded up.....a huge glass bank on the beachside has a large number of its glass panels missing....some places are still shut down.....
...where I'm volunteering, at the campaign headquarters.....was soaked through & through inside and they will have to replace the carpet....

Miss Marple had this figured out. To keep him quiet he was told to sue CBS. CBS would settle out of court for an undisclosed sum on condition of secrecy.
Miss Marple thinks and I agree that this is a legal way for CBS to pay Burkett off for lying about who the real source is.

Someone doing something illegal got caught up in the thread ; forgot they were in MY account; & just clumsily posted from my account, while they were busy checking out the Freep mails , pings etc.
There is only one Free Republic member who has had access to my computer & he has the technical knowledge to access my Free Republic account and hack my computer. The wording & person to whom it is addressed in the post make it clear who this person is.
Voyeurism, Cyber-stalking, and Identity theft are not funny – they ARE CRIMINAL
Interesting thing is that the past couple months there have been severe irregularities with my cell phone billing & bank account. To the tune of several thousand dollars. There may be no relationship, but as Gleen Beck says, an interesting coincidence??. The authorities, I believe can sort this out
On a frustrating personal note.. I wonder how many of my Freep mails I did not receive because the account was accessed earlier & notes deleted. I don’t believe anything in my Freep mail is so personal that it couldn’t be posted here. But that should be MY choice.
I usually normally trust people much more than I should..I want to go on trusting. Most people I know and meet are.decent & trustworthy.

If this is post deleted / removed and not handled , I will be going to the police later today. I am very serious about this. I don’t want to have the police & FBI crawling around FR.,..My early morning conversation with my attorney confirmed this is the course of action I should take & I would meet with the authorities in his office late afternoon BUT only if we can not handle it here I will be leaving later this morning to take relative to hospital for pacemaker.

LISA appears on IR sat pics as this blob of convection devoid of any real organization. Locating the center is problematic, and indeed NHC guesses that location based on the shear in the area and where a center might normally be found in such an environment.
Because of the developing region of unstable weather to the cyclone's southeast (which may become TD FOURTEEN today), development of LISA is unlikely in the short term. LISA might become a hurricane at the end of the five-day forecast period.
Track guidance is also very iffy, with major models--a la JEANNE--all over the place. About the only agreement is a westward vector the first couple of days. It seems reasonable that, if LISA survives that long, at VT forecast plus four days a slow turn to the NW will occur due to a weakness that will appear at that time in the HP ridge to the cyclone's north.
If it makes that turn, LISA will not be a threat to land. That is shown in this presentation's interest watch area.

So I got out the HP laptop of mine that you used for a month or two and loaded it with my new TV software. I have not used it to post on the web since you gave it back to me in June. I am to train two people so I loaded my new software on my HP and Dell laptops for use this afternoon. I start training at 1PM. Since we are going to network the two laptops I plugged the HP in to my net.
Out of habit I guess, I logged on to FR. It auto Logged on. I thought that my computer would log me on. I then posted the post to someone and Miss Marple.
I did not notice until you posted the above that the Auto log on was something you left on My computer.
If you use the Toshiba laptop I gave you, you will find it will log you on as me. I didn't take me off that computer's auto log on either.
I am surprised you left your auto log on on my computer.
Any one with an I.Q. of seven could figure out I made the post. If I had noticed that it logged on as you, I obviously would not have used it to post.
You must think I am very stupid. It just never occurred to me that considering the state of our relationship at the time you would leave your log on on the computer. I did note at the time
You could have contacted me to ask what happened.. But you did not. you took your AOL dial in software off.
I can't remember but I do not think I had used it since I got it back to access the INTERNET. AS you know I have 14 computes in my house. I had no need to use the HP until now.
I am sorry I did not check the computer before using it. I have just now erased all the cookies on the HP. And set the HP to auto log on me.
I deleted EVERYTHING from that computer before it was returned to you
