Paralysis, shock, and awe are exactly the three effects an army desires to inflict upon an opposing enemy force. It was the effect Hitler achieved in his blitzkriegs on Europe and the same effect any good general desires to reach when sending messages to their enemy they now face a ruthless and unbeatable foe.
And there is but one answer that can or must be used in response to the barbaric message of the Islamic jihad - annihilation. Islam seeks no other goal upon it's enemies than annihilation, and no other message will register with Islam.
99% of Americans have never seen a firefight, never been in combat, never been shot or shot at, never seen wounded or dead from any of the above laying next to them or in the streets and have never given thought these things could happen in their own home town.
Also, most don't even want to hear, see, or think about these things as long as they are kept far, far away from them.
As the war veterans of this generation begin to trickle back into our society, and first-hand accounts of what war is all about begin to flow back to the civilian population, hopefully Americans will begin to appreciate more the sacrifices made by our young men and women on the battlefield.
If not, the battlefield can easily come to those who no longer appreciate freedom and by then it would be too late. These are perilous times when we have a real enemy with real intentions on killing as many Americans as possible while Americans don't even know it or don't want to listen when told.
