How would we know???
Maybe all the good Arabs are over here?
Maybe we need ALL the good Arabs from here to go back and teach their people how wonderful we are!
Maybe your silence is telling the United States that you don't want our help?
Maybe the money you make over here is being sent overseas to fight us?
How would we know?
You are saying nothing!
You are either with us or against us, no?
Maybe the food for oil is helping Arabs kill Americans?
Maybe we need to stop doing business with Arab Americans in all aspects?
How would we know?
Yeah, we all know how corrupt that food for oil programme was...
Fear rather than love is the focus of their religion.
They are afraid to speak out either because they agree with the brutality of Islam or they fear retribution from the fanatics.
Cowardice is in their genes!!!
You would do well to spell check your vanity posts. And think about what you intend to say before you post it. And consider doing a little reseach to support your conclusions.
I used to give most everyone the benefit of the doubt. Then along came gangsta rap and its punk thug followers. Then along came radical islam taegeting anything non radical muslim. I no longer look for the good in either group, only scorn contempt and suspicion.
The world would be better off without either entire group, entirely.
For years now we have waited for denunciations of these groups by the more moderate of either groups followers. None forthcoming.
F-em.
Don't come round here, the welcome mat is not out.
spellcheck?
get a life there captain.
And what is posted here is correct in content.
Go be an english teacher in grammer school.
thanks Joe
"t" in States?
"They have additional fears that they are going to be targeted by goof-balls, just because they are Arabs"
You know, we are losing soldiers to "help" them live a free open life in the U.S..
Maybe they need to take the chance!
Maybe frustration will start to create a different kind of goof ball.
Just maybe we need to hear they are on our side.
Maybe they need to do a march down every Main Street in every city!!!
Just maybe it's not too late.
Please choose your terms more carefully. Many, many Arabs in this country are Christians, and come from families that have been Christian for 2000 years. They have nothing to do with this sort of thing and it is unjust to tar them with the same brush you apply to Muslim fanatics.
I understood his post very well. He was speaking to the deafening silence of Muslims living in the U.S. I'd like to know what's on their mind too. I'm sure of one thing though, when the U.S. Muslims want to build their mosques and get permission to loudly broadcast their 'call to prayer' noise five times a day they certainly know how to make themselves heard.
No problem,
Let's hear from them.
I'll take hearing from any Arab that is on our side right now?
How about an Arab American Christian march?
I think some Americans would apreciate it, no?
I did not object to his subject matter, per se. My comments were about his presentation. It was an editorial and it needed more substance to be credible.
I apologize to any good arabs whom I have offended!
To the others............stick it!
Rule 1: A poor presentation will ruin a persuasive argument.
The poster of this thread suggests that the American "Arab" community has been largely silent about the issues regarding the war in Iraq. I think many people will agree with this statement.
However, the poster, rather than explain or justify his position, instead makes xenophobic and racist swipes at Arab-Americans. Case in point: "Maybe ... all the good Arabs [should] go back and teach their people how wonderful we are." How is that different from, "The only good Indian is a dead Indian" or "Send the blacks back to Africa."? Did the author consider that quite a few Americans of Arab descent are the "we" in his statement? Does the author understand that there are many American Arabs who are as good patriots and citizens as he is, and who are as thoroughly American as any of us? Do you remember that the American soldier who pulled Saddam out of the spider hole is an American Arab?
"Maybe the money you make over here is being sent overseas to fight us?" Proof? or innuendo?
"You are either for us or against us, no?" Did the author consider that possibly there are us?
"Maybe the food for oil is helping Arabs kill Americans?" What food is killing Americans? Or is the author attempting to make some mangles point about a failed UN program, and if so, how does that pertain to Arab Americans? And does the author conflate Arabs or Muslims world-wide with American Arabs?
"Maybe we need to stop doing business with Arab Americans in all respects." Why not stop doing business with "Mexicans" or "Jews" or "Asians"? Is is just as racist a statement.
The author does end by repeating an earlier question, "How would we know?" The answer is educating yourself on about the issues and avoiding subtle racism.
I spoke to a Cherokee friend of mine last week and pleaded with him to inquire with his remaining grandparent as to the experiences they had as an indian the last century and to then share that with his kids. The differences in life can be numbing. But "the only good indian is a dead indian", that time came and went.
Blacks, at least the ones i know are no more africasns then I am. They are assimilated Americans. If you don't believe that, try to see how a black feels about going "BACK " to africa.
NOw as for Arab Americans, they should be working as hard as possible to assimilate here. Try to be American as much as possible. Learn the language and adopt as many customs as possible as long as it doesn't interfere with core beliefs.
I have seen various nationalities, and races do this over the years but I have heard very little if any condemnation by any arab, or muslims concerning terrorism.
