It is "deafoning" in the "United Sates."

Rule 1: A poor presentation will ruin a persuasive argument.

The poster of this thread suggests that the American "Arab" community has been largely silent about the issues regarding the war in Iraq. I think many people will agree with this statement.

However, the poster, rather than explain or justify his position, instead makes xenophobic and racist swipes at Arab-Americans. Case in point: "Maybe ... all the good Arabs [should] go back and teach their people how wonderful we are." How is that different from, "The only good Indian is a dead Indian" or "Send the blacks back to Africa."? Did the author consider that quite a few Americans of Arab descent are the "we" in his statement? Does the author understand that there are many American Arabs who are as good patriots and citizens as he is, and who are as thoroughly American as any of us? Do you remember that the American soldier who pulled Saddam out of the spider hole is an American Arab?

"Maybe the money you make over here is being sent overseas to fight us?" Proof? or innuendo?

"You are either for us or against us, no?" Did the author consider that possibly there are us?

"Maybe the food for oil is helping Arabs kill Americans?" What food is killing Americans? Or is the author attempting to make some mangles point about a failed UN program, and if so, how does that pertain to Arab Americans? And does the author conflate Arabs or Muslims world-wide with American Arabs?

"Maybe we need to stop doing business with Arab Americans in all respects." Why not stop doing business with "Mexicans" or "Jews" or "Asians"? Is is just as racist a statement.

The author does end by repeating an earlier question, "How would we know?" The answer is educating yourself on about the issues and avoiding subtle racism.
