Faith the service dog phoned 911 when her owner fell out of her wheelchair and barked urgently into the receiver until a dispatcher sent help. Then the 4-year-old Rottweiler unlocked the front door so the responding police officer could come in.

No, I missed the NC town story - thank you. That reminds me of that bleeding heart movie "A Day Without A Mexican". Maybe we should make a movie called "A Day Without the United States" and see how the rest of the world functions without us around to help them.
No, I didn't make it to El Monte Park, but I did go to the Salton Sea. I think we still drive that way every once awhile to get to LA. Did you ever see the Yuma sand dunes or go to the Joshua Tree National Park?

Noooooooooooo... I missed so many goodies. We put off seeing a lot of things thinking we'd be there forever. You know how it goes, especially if you have a couple rug-rats to lug around, lol.
We had to pick our spots, and catch as catch can when free time allowed. We did get to a lot of nice free places tho. ;)

That's great you got around a bit! Do you know the story of the Joshua Trees? When the pioneers (Mormons?) first saw them, they thought the plants looked like humans reaching up to God... My brother was stationed in 29 Palms for four years, so I used to go visit him there.
JT is a good rock climbing park too. Way back when before women did much of that - I guess!(around 1986/87), we used to go climbing there. People in the park always looked at us in a strange way. One time we were walking out with our ropes and gear, and one lady said "I didn't know girls could climb!".
Is the same, or similar to, the Dios de los Muertos, that is remembered in Mexico?
