One more email of wisdom:

A woman and a man are involved in a car accident on a snowy, cold Monday morning; it's a bad one. Both of their cars are totally demolished but amazingly neither of them are hurt. God works in Mysterious ways.

After they crawl out of their cars, the woman says, "So you're a man. That's interesting. I'm a woman. Wow, just look at our cars! There's nothing left, but we're unhurt. This must be a sign from God that we should meet and be friends and live together in peace for the rest of our days." Flattered, the man replies, "Oh yes, I agree with you completely, this must be a sign from God!"

The woman continues, "And look at this, here's another miracle. My car is completely demolished but this bottle of wine didn't break. Surely God wants us to drink this wine and celebrate our good fortune." Then she hands the bottle to the man.

The man nods his head in agreement, opens it and drinks half the bottle and then hands it back to the woman. The woman takes the bottle and immediately puts the cap back on, and hands it back to the man. The man asks, "Aren't you having any?"

The woman replies, "No. I think I'll just wait for the police.... "

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Women are clever, evil bitches.

Don't mess with us.

Weather Forcasts from noaa.gov have a new format. You might check it out for Iowa.

I read in the paper this morning that we did have a tornado touch down yesterday evening. It did quite a bit of damage to a small town about ten miles from Cape, but no injuries.

Drizzly and Seattle-like weather in Tucson, very unusual for October... makes the mountains stand out really well and the juniper trees in our backyard sure smell good.

Looks like the rainy season has started here. We've had a couple of big storms blow through in the past couple of weeks, and right now it's overcast and around 50. Sunday is forecast to be around 63, and partly cloudly. That's a good thing, since my husband is running a half marathon in Sacramento, and it's good for it not to be too hot. It's also good that it won't be raining, because I absolutely hate hanging around in the pouring rain waiting for him. I did that in 2003 when he ran the Bay to Breakers in San Francisco. I was wearing rain gear, but got soaked anyway. And my poor husband - drenched. Whooee. What fun. Wish I could do that every weekend.

Wow. Good thing my sister is out looking for firewood for her and for our parents this weekend (near Sacto actually). We always buy my father a half cord or so this time of year. We just had our two cords of mesquite delivered last night - 1/2 cord will go to my husband's mom.

I remember the hundreds of thousands of runners on/near the bridge for the Bay to Breakers. When I worked at Ft. Point, they all ended up there; I think I even have photos. Quite a big event!

Tornados are the pits. While living in north Texas, they were always swooping around, and scaring the living daylights out of we kids.

It is overcast here today and thunder is grumbling in the distance. I hope it holds off till I get my running around done for the day. I have to drive out to Norfork later this afternoon.

This year seems to have been particularly bad for alerts and actual touchdowns.

Strange that we are all talking about the bad weather today. This morning I saw a lady in the chiro's office that survived a tornado in Marble Hill, about forty minutes drive from Cape. It happened about two years ago and came in quickly without much time for warnings. She was blown into the lake which her home bordered and nearly drowned. But along the way to the water, she suffered so many hits from debris that she had to have her legs amputated.

I'm surprised that she even is still living here, really.
