I can't stand the florescent lights, so I end up working in the dark half the time. Beats the headaches from the lights.

I definitely hear that! I bought a lamp at a yard sale for the office so I wouldn't have to use fluorescents... Most of my cell block neighbors hate them too so we are all either sitting in the dark or in dim lighting.

I have a desk I can lower and raise so I can stand up if I want to... a pretty decent chair. Thank goodness I have a private office now so I can close the door and do stretches. Or, sometimes I go outside to do them. The doorway stretches work well for me to help the stabbing. I'll get periodic flare-ups of weird pain other than the shooting-stabbing-in-the-back-pain (e.g. in my fingers or wrists) if I've been on too long. The chiro and masseuse have hammered out the worst of it, as long as I go once a week... biking and running have helped, and beyond that there are all sorts of pain pills... bad for our livers.

I don't take a lot of pills, but I have no problem at all with it when something hurts. I do NOT do pain! That is why I might end up going to the doctor. I like to keep something stonger than Anacin and BC around for when I really need it so I don't have to go running to the doctor for every little twinge.

I tried so many different pain pills and finally found one this year that doesn't knock me out AND helps the pain. I am so about legalizing drugs. I've never done any illegal ones, but I think I should be able to take whatever pills I want to. I'm a functioning member of society. It took me two years to find one that works, and that was by accident and not from a doctor. They're so scared of addicts, of getting sued, of who knows, that they give you 20 mg of something weak which doesn't even work. When I've tried 15 other things for the pain, and am still in pain - necessito drogas!

I don't drink, and haven't for five and a half years, so a pill here and there shouldn't hurt me too much.

Oh, and just in case you didn't know, massage therapy is tax deductible under medical. Same with chiro, of course.

When I was in school the lights bothered me a lot. The optomistrist prescribed eyeglass lenses with a slight pink tint to counter the blue lights. I'm not sure if it helped a lot, but it's something to consider. Usually I wore contacts.

I just spent $315 on a new pair of glasses. I'm not about to spend any more on glasses at this point. Actually, it isn't the light color anyway, that causes florescents to be bad for your eyes. It's the flickering. When I was in college, the eye doctor told me that I should avoid florescent lighting as much as possible, especially reading and doing detail work. Surely this is common enough knowledge by now, but what do most offices have? Florescent lights.

My grandkids say that I am one cool grandma. I found the design for a puking pumpkin on the net and had PaPa carve it tonight, with them helping, of course. Lawd, it takes so little to make children scream with excitement.
