Westy, I have never had the flu, pneumonia or hepatitis immunizations even though I worked in a hospital at high risk.

One year our department mandated hepatitis series of shots. But, we were to take them one-half of the department first and then the second. Well, I volunteered for the second. Sure enough, the first half of therapists that took the series were tested and only a few were actually in the "it took" bracket and the rest were just as vulnerable as the rest of us who had none.

My Mama told me years ago to always be wary and I am.

If you were thinking of getting me something for Christmas, just send a box of dates and I will dehydrate them and stuff them for our Christmas buffet. LOL

I lived in the California desert for 2 years a long time ago. I used to get date shakes a lot.

I got use to taking shots in the military...They didn't ask you, just lined you up and gave them.....

I really don't care about the flu shots this year, but it kind of irks me when Ol Tommy gets on and says for seniors not to worry there is plenty available for them....Then the largest hospital in the county is told by CDC there is no vaccine available for their senior flu clinic..The hospital has held the clinics for the last 15 years and provided over 60,000 vaccinations....This is for seniors only....Somebody is BSing and I don't think it's the Dems....

Oh noooooooooooo - we just hacked them up last weekend so that our pol signs would show up better! Otherwise, I'd be happy to - lol. The only thing is, they are very delicious, but are the tiny kind where you only get a bite or two. We sawed most of them off before they matured.

This is why I don't need to grocery shop - we have dates, lemons, limes, grapefruits, oranges, tomatoes, olives, carrots, onions, lettuce...

now it is over kill every thing is just too damn sweet! Those interesting spices or not part of the traditional treats! Ginger, Cinnammon, raisins, prunes etc.

True... and this is making me hungry! I like the ginger candy some health food stores sell.

Oh by the way, you should know that I have never traveled farther west than eastern Kansas.

Well, I have plenty of water here but I don't see too many date trees on my block. LOL

Isn't it amazing? The palm trees aren't even on the drip system and we still had hundreds of thousands of dates. And, if I get the right seeds adapted to the Sonoran Desert, I can plant with the summer rain and not have to water them much at all.

Our water bill is not high at all, even with the swimming pool. We compost, mulch, and get large bags of coffee grinds from Starbucks.

Last night, I set my buckets, tubs, and garbage containers out for the rain.

Amtrak used to run through here from the East, don't know if it still does. A lot of people used to commute between here and Austin via train.

Does she? Wow. I had to leave my warm bed at midnight to go set everything up because I can't stand to miss out. I immediately notice how the indoor plants perk up after they get the natural water. They look greener and happier. We always talk about putting in some gutter system that would catch and store more of the water, but we never get around to building one. So, it's the tubs for now :)
