The was definitely a LOT of "assisted" voting going on yesterday...no telling how many votes that nice Mr.Roosevelt picked up.

I could see this since the commander in chief is who he is. Were this the case of sending someone in his position out to serve under UN command, as ordered by someone who aided and abetted the enemy in time of war, going into hiding instead would be acceptable.
Tell me where I can get one or get more information about one. That looks like an inflatable and I have exactly the place to put one.
My sister has cat insurance; I should consider that myself. I'm not sure it's worth it for one cat, but it might be for more than one.
Back to the bad drivers - this morning there were people in the fast lane, lollygagging at five to ten miles under the speed limit and blocking those of us trying to get to work. One was on a cell phone, one was talking to an imaginary friend in the passenger seat, and one was talking to her baby in the back seat.
Oh, yes, and Tucson also holds the record for more red light runners than anywhere else in the country. I need a tank to deal with these clowns. If we had public transportation or a decent bike path to work, I'd use them.
Do you have the location of the writers's conference? No matter, wherever's its held my bet is that you and LS will witness drives who could compete very, very well in Tucson.

That's right - I forgot I wanted to tell you - last time I was lucky enough to be shuttled around between the hotel and the training, and could walk over to 6th St. and so on. Also, one local friend drove me around a bit to some other historic places. I DO remember it being a little like Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (Disneyland) in a few places around town :) I'm hoping we don't have to rent our own car and can just take shuttles, taxis, and so forth, not sure of details and locations yet.
Seriously, do you both notice the crowds behind the candidates in the various states they are touring? Lurch's crowd always has gritted teeth, very tight smiles, dull eyes. I rarely see a full, open, happy mouth in the audience. Pres. Bush's crowds seem genuinely joyful.
(Plus, it's convenient to my house.)

Yeah, and now we look like a bunch of bozos to the rest of the world, what with Lurch perched with his 10,000 lawyers, the voter fraud, the people monitoring our elections. Not that I really care what much of the world thinks (like France and Germany) but it is such an embarrassment still...
I found this while searching for NY's sample ballot to see how many parties were on the ballot this year:
The single biggest reason Americans give for not voting is time constraints, according to a new Census Bureau survey being released today.
Some 21.5 percent of respondents who failed to vote in the 1996 elections said they had no time -- up from just 8 percent in the 1980 elections.
Just over 17 percent indicated they didn't care about the elections -- up from 11 percent 16 years before.
Some 13 percent of nonvoters said they failed to cast ballots because they didn't like the candidates, 15 percent said they were ill or faced an emergency, 4 percent lacked transportation, 11 percent were out of town, and 1 percent found the lines at the polls too long.
About 21.3 million eligible voters failed to make it to the ballot box in 1996.
Fewer people registered and voted in the 1996 election than in any general election since 1964, when the bureau started keeping statistics. The voter turn-out rate stood at 69.3 percent in 1964, declining to 61.3 percent in 1992, and hit a record low of 54.2 percent four years later.
