I'm catching up on the volcano pics and briefings - thanks much. We drove up there in 1980 and I remember the two inches of ash throughout Portland. Also, drove up as far as we could on the road and large downed trees were everywhere like out of a science fiction movie.

I just read where there was another steam event..Maybe the whole West Coast from Cabo north is going to break off and head for the Aleutians....(:-)~

Cable news is reporting evacuations around Mount St Helens due to it being upgraded to a level three eruption. Hmmmm...one question, since I know nothing of volcanoes...or salmon, for that matter. LOL

Okay, is magma what I think of as lava?

I think the magma is what is brewing inside the volcano, and the lava is what we see once the magma has erupted. Good question!

Poor dog... I will have to dig out some pics of me hiking in lava flows. It beats hiking the salt pan where the salt goes down 1,000 feet in the middle of Death Valley. Park visitors died when they accidentally impaled themselves on the table salt. The DOE was always coming out to do top-secret tests...

I've been to Death Vally a few times...No hiking though...Is Ubehebe the name of that crater there, sort of off the beaten track????

Yes, it is! Near Scotty's Castle... My favorite part of DV is near the Crater, it's called the Devil's Racetrack. Did you go out there? It's where boulders and rocks mysteriously move and no one has ever figured out exactly how. Aliens?

Didn't get out to the Race Track...Heard and seen shots of it on TV...Think I was a little leery of trying the road in a Motor Home...Maybe just chicken,,lol

ROTFL - thank you!!!! You know what - a voodoo doll worked on the last loser we had... he was outa there within a couple of weeks of us poking it. But, any poxes would be awesome too since I no longer have the doll.
