"The deepest I've gone into the earth was to an old borate mine just outside of Death Valley."

You can keep the mines. I'll take the caves. They're more stable, as a rule, and full of natural beauty.

The mines and caves are now taken ... once again leaving nully with just the holes.

The copper ore at Pahaquarra is low order Chalcocite, that nasty gritty blue-grey crystal stuff.
And there's peacock ore as well, but none of it of a good enough grade to make it a paying mine.

Women in Texas wear fur, that's why there is Air Conditioning.

"And don't forget the BATS"

I actually LIKE the bats, in relatively small numbers. If there are too many flying around over head, well, let's just say that it could get messy. I remember once when I was leading cave tours, on this one tour there was a bat that decided to come along and put on quite a show. I thought it was great. We didn't see a lot bats in that cave system. So I stopped the tour so that we could watch his antics. Then I realized that some of the guests were getting a bit unnerved.

Bats carry rabies. Gotta be very careful when one acts strangely. It's probably sick.

It shows the beginning of my summer 'red hair' phase.
That, and being the vain creature of shadow that I am.. I hated how my hair went that day.

Sterling Hill zinc mine, you can actually go into the mine, but you can't go any further in.
Level 2 on down to 1997 feet down is full of water..

Red hair is a badge of honor around here.

Good to see our Spatio-Temporal Warping Department has been doing its work :)

For me, it's somewhat of an annoyance.
My hair has strands of black, brown, tan, gunmetal grey and red..

"This thread may be too weird, even for us"

Nasty! Now, mind you, I do tend to like sweet and salt together and chocolate dipped chicken (even livers) might at least be interesting, but I don't like gizzards. Some things I just don't think were ever meant to be eaten!
