Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
I've worked for the last year on making it easier, I make sure when I worm him now, that I'm not in a mood:). It has gotten easier to get it in him, just not swallow. You can tell his pissed too:). He holds his lips all stiff and sulls up. Kind of funny really. I just stand and hold his head up and poke at his mouth. He never really swallows, but opens and shuts his mouth from my poking that most eventually goes down.

Some day I will catch Okie. He's real fast but he does this cute thing of curling his white lips. It would be a great got milk? pic
You could try the daily wormer supplement that goes in feed. I've thought about switching to that, but I have a feeling it's more expensive, wormers being pretty cheap. The daily stuff is expensive by the tub, but I am not sure what the dosage is to figure how long it lasts.
The vet that I used that died this summer, said he wouldn't reccommend the daily kind. He said it was very hard on their livers. And you still have to worm occasionally with an ivermec.
Becky
Well, that's good to know, probably not worth the ease then.
I don't worm in winter anyhow, only for the warm months when the flies are still around. Do you stop in winter?
We still have flies:'(
Well, there are small benefits to northern climates, then... we haven't had flies since October.
I put their halters on first. Do yall?
The hot rod guys on tv just pulled a jalopy out of a field to overhaul. One of yours? :')
Sure, but I ~can~ do Bay or Cyn in the stall without.
They took Cav's? Thats too bad, it was making a nice arbor for the Morning Glories!
Oh my:')
Except for foals, whole tube per horse.
Like CindyDawg said, in and hold the head up, sometimes massage the neck.
Yes, always put the halter on ours. Appys are as unpredictable as me with PMS :)
:')Trying to straighten up around here. What's up?
Not a thing, playing solitare :) Don't have the energy to do anything constructive.
Me either but if I'm not goung to sleep....:')
Did you happen to see the news today on MS? Astounded that it has something to do with when you were born.
No, what was it about?
