Check it out on your horse before you buy one. My neighbor got one and it threw his weight way forward. He is not a good rider anyway and that made it worse.
I can't afford another onr right now. The trainer wants me to try my husbands saddle.
Well that's not happened to me:') I just occasionally catch my blouse.
Mornin' all,
Beaker, I think that would be a combination of you being small and the horse being tall. It's fun being on a big ol' horse and feeling all that power under you, isn't it? Luckily, Tuffy is too lazy to use it.
You know, I bought Tuffy as a 3 year old and he wasn't that big. He was about that tall but he really bulked up as he got older. He'll be 7 in March.
Isn't it funny how we have some horses that we know we have a connection with and others that we can take them or leave them? I've had about a zillion horses come and go but the 4 I have right now will always be with me. And they are the ones that I tried out for 2 minutes and said "I'll take him!" The ones that I waffled on before purchasing were the ones that are no longer with me.
They are making saddles now with adjustable trees . . . doesn't affect me as I usually just ride Gracie and my Courbette fits her fine either with the contoured sheepskin pad for hunting or the rectangular quilted dressage pad I usually use.
Our trainer had so many kids out on this hunt that she Aced most of the horses. She's really good with children, she coaches as we go and will get the kids' ponies through tough places, etc. On a hunt we usually find 3 or 4 kids who didn't come out with us have fallen into her train - we call her the Pied Piper. (There were some runaways and a couple of falls yesterday, so it was a good idea to Ace. Last thing she needs is somebody's 10 year old on a runaway spooked pony.) We looked at Gracie and said, "Nah!" < g >
Good Morning.
My family was all here last night to make our Christmas capaletti and it was 1:00 before everyone left. But we had a great time. Been a long time since we had so many little one's here.
My opening day was fun. For no more advertising then we had, word of mouth only, I did pretty good. Sold 17 shirts.
It's raining here today....again.
I've read most of yesterdays posts, and looked at the pictures. Enjoyed them:)

Good morning! I was just going to post an inquiry about how it went for you yesterday!
I don't know what capaletti is, but we are having our family lefse-making day today, and I bet it's an equivalent tradition if it involves everybody :~D
Capaletti are basicly ravioli. My mother was Italian. We make them once a year for Christmas. They are pretty work intense. Everything, pasta, and filling is made from scratch. Then I freeze them till Christmas. My two nephews and all their families always come, and of course, my kids.
Capaletti are filled with meat, ravioli are filled with cheese/spinach.
I really don't know how may mom use to do it. For alot of years she did it by herself, and had to roll the pasta dough out with a rolling pen. We have a pasta roller. I grind the meat with a hand grinder but that isn't that hard.
So what is it you are making today. I've never heard of that.
Becky
It's a Norwegian thing and one of our Christmas traditions... Potato based flatbread, similar to a flour tortilla, and you roll it up with butter, and sugar ;~D
I'll post a report about it tonight, at least in the HH and link it here. It's a pretty involved process too.
Happy to hear you had a great day. That's what it is all about.
My favorite thing around here to eat is warm flour tortillas and butter. (I'm a cheap date:'). We have a sugar tradition. Christmas eve we make lots of fudge, and candies.
Congratulations on your opebing day.
So is it a dessert, or main dish? Anything with butter an sugar would be good.
Capaletti are real artery cloggers:) The meat filling is chicken and pork steak fried in real butter with garlic and onion. Then ground up and mixed with egg and parmasan cheese. The pasta is flour, eggs, olive oil, water. Rolled out paper thin. Charlie does the rolling, our roller is a hand one, then cut with the smallest biscut cutter you can find. Take a dab of filling put it in the center fold and seal closed with a fork.
On the day we eat them I cook tomato sauce that has chicken parts simmering in it. The capaletti are boiled till they float, takes about 4-5 minutes.
I thought last night that I wished I had my camera:), I left it at the shop, where I forgot to take pictures too:).

Thanks:)
It was alot of fun.

It's served like a bread, rolled up on the side with the meal....
I'm completely with you guys on this issue.
And I'll go one step further....I think the 'Western Pleasure' horses look studpid even as a Western pleasure horse. Horses that work like this can't do anything. No horse moves like this unless picking their way thru something. And as far showing versitility. IMO, this limits their versatility. What the heck can they do in this postion???
Becky
Sounds very good.
