Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
She should start looking pregnant about now. Generally five or six months, if she still doesn't look pregnant at 8mos or so, you might check her. Has she carried full term since she lost the foal?
Had a great day, although dinner kept getting pushed back. At least no worries on the turkey being done - :) it was very done.
Rain storm came through this afternoon with snow on the mountain tops. Mr Glasscock had to leave one of his horses in Fallon so only one trailer was necessary this afternoon, which worked out perfectly since my husband had to go to town to pick up a new mattress and box springs from my son's house. Son was at in-laws and the mattress was in the back of his truck at his house, which would have been okay except for the rain :)
Maybe you could feed him some treats occassionally at the location of his bucket so he feels more comfortable. He'll learn that it won't shock him anymore.
That's a pretty area. Horses have tremendous memories, it's really hard to overcome a back experience. One of the reasons it's so difficult to get horses past being abused or rough handling.
Well my husband was right. He eats when he gets hungry. (He doesn't enjoy it though and he really, really, enjoys eating:')
Had a Good Thanksgiving today.... especially good because there wasn't a murder. ;~D
Tired though, and gonna hit the couch.... Talk in the morning.
I think your mare may start to ~really~ show more the last three months.
No, this is the first time we bred her tho, since she lost that one.

Good morning.
Anyone shopping today?
I don't think I would take a bird anywhere. You never know. But birds like that have always fascinated me. Some day I'd like to have one, when Susie and cat are gone.
Becky
Morning. I have to go to work today. I avoid shopping the day after. No sale worth the crowd to me:'). I don't shop at Target much anyway because I don't like the location but avoiding this year because of the Salvation Army but did you see that they are giving shoppers wake up calls today?
I had a parakeet that was really cool, he was loose all the time and perched most of the time in a bunch of big plants in the corner. Through a series of events in which we rescued a cat with a broken leg, things went bad. The bird got eaten when the leg got better. Too many members of the food chain living together :~\ I loved having him too, I just can't imagine when I won't have a dog or a cat, and ~can~ have another bird.
Anyway, I think I know dogs, and I would predict most dogs without corrective exposure would go after it. I just couldn't believe they walked in completely unsuspecting of that. "really?" what would she do to it?" "She'd kill it before you could think stop her." Silly silly people. ;~| She's a farm dog. She kills things, some I like, some I don't.
Good morning everyone!
No. Really. LOL....
I'm not a shopper at anytime. But I'm with you, no bargain is worth the crowds today. Especially with as violent as society is getting now a days, you're liable to get shot if you pick something up someone else wants.
I think we are going to go hang the clothes racks, and get some type of table set up at the building. The shirts came in Wed, but not the transfers, maybe today.

I just came in from running off a coyote. I've learned to tell when Grizzly is barking at one. He was just sitting out there behind the barn. Their hard to see now, they blend in so good with the fallen leaves.
This one reminded me of the wolf in Dances with Wolves. He had white on his front feet.
Becky
Oh yeah. Question.
I think our neighbor must have shot a deer. I've heard him take off every morning on his 4 wheeler. Anyway, last night when we got home there was a deer hide in our yard. Grizzly:). My worry is, would that be something that the guy was wanting to keep? The fur all in a piece?
This guy came over about a week ago (luckily he wasn't mad), but said he had been practicing with his bow and arrow, and Grizzly took an arrow and ran off with it. He was just wanting to let us know if we found it he'd like it back. So now this hide shows up....I know where it came from.
Becky
Oh, and it really freaked people out but Pretty Bird's favorite thing to eat was chicken. She would hold and eat a drumstick:')
I know my cat and dog would kill one quick. And I would want one that I could let loose in the house. So I'll have to wait. But I think birds are really neat. A few friends have had them. They can really develop alot of personality.
