The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread TWO!

Posted on 09/18/2004 6:56:23 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

"Oh I think that you mean the rock fences here in general?"

Yes, that is what I meant. Sorry that I did not make myself clear.

"Sorry, a bit slow on the uptake."

Not to worry, you are quicker than I...... : )

Yes, rock fences are nice. Down the street from the house where I grew up, there is a path goes out into the woods, and as you go down, there are other intersecting parts lined with old old old stone walls, and there's also a really old cemetery and a foundation of what used to be what I assume was a log cabin. Across from it is a very much overgrown field.

Good morning saddle club thread!

I feel like I have been away, but I have not, just preoccupied, I guess, with all this election business!

The horses are getting restless this morning and want their breakfast. I can hear them fidgeting with their gates.

We had the shoer out last friday, and he gave a trim to Cyn TheNewHorse.... He said she had excellent feet to stay barefoot if anyone can. Decided to definately leave her barefoot through winter, we won't likely be on trails now till spring anyhow.

Morning. I'm so glad elections are over. I sometimes wish we could amend president to 8 years with no re-election.

Good Morning to you to and everyone!

It's a great day. I know what you mean, by being preoccupied. I was so stressed out, watching the returns on Tuesday evening. Fox news, and the exit polls, had me so upset. I had to finally turn it off. That was so wrong. I think heads are going to roll over that reporting.

I love that picture of Bay and the pony. Their feet are in the same position.

I enjoy pointing out to people how rhythmic horses are, and how they will often match stride with each other. It's really noticeable in pictures because you can freeze the moment in time, but Bay and the pony are often in stride with each other.... It has to be a stretch for that pony, but she does it!

I am just so pleased with the American people. There was so much crap thrown in our paths this election, and I am glad so many people avoided stepping in it ;~D

Morning wranglers. I guess everybody is feeling purty darned good after Tuesday's results and kerry's expedient capitulation yesterday.

I know I am.

Is the picture in post 2789 from hairofthedog a recent picture? If so, where was it taken?

Good morning everyone:)

The sun is shining here today:), first time in over a week.

Probably be next week before I do anything with my horses. We are all just wore out here, and I have a lot of catching up to do around the house.

Becky

One last thought of mine on the election:)

In watching TV on Tues, and the mess at the polls, long lines and such, I was thinking that one way to solve that mess, would be to have the polls open the same 24 hour period across the US. That way they would all open at the same time, they would all close at the same time, and more people would have more time to make it there. That should help with the long lines. There would be no counting to report on before the polls close across the nation. I really dislike the reporting that goes one before all the polls close.

Just a thought:)

Becky

I'm sure someone has thought about it before I did. But it does seem a more fair way.

I also think they should outlaw exit polls, but that would be asking too much:)

That's our pasture banner, proudly displayed here deep in the blue state of Washington. We've had it up the last two months... We do what we can ;~D

We can stop the polls . I refused to participate in any this year, including FR. I've heard though that when asked, if you say none of your business they mark you down as a republican:')

We missed all the early exit poll madness, we went out for a long drive to deliberately avoid the new all day. We got home very calm and relaxed to watch the returns, and found our friends here a little frazzled from it!
