Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the last thread we had a great time and were a great help to each other working through lessons and training, horse lamenesses and illnesses, questions and challenges and always just our stories we like to tell.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the last thread, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
Hi there! Sorry for the delay in replying back to you, welcome to Free Republic!
Thank you for the reply.
No trouble at all!
Very pretty:')
Great pictures, thanks for posting!
Just gorgeous. Thanks.
No problem. :-)
What ever happened with your Octoberfest? Did you get to joust (ms?)
No, I never went to King Richard's Faire. I just didn't have the time. Dash it all.
I'm cleaning my desk. It looks like a horse house. I have horse stuff everywhere. One side looks really good. Sigh. Now I have to get to the other. I was feeling real tired today and skipped the stables and aikido and stayed home. A minor task now going into about 3 hours:')
I had to do a Google on that. Interesting, form of exercise for you, or defense?
Morning. It's both. As usual, we have to spice things up around here so there is a little judo and street fighting thrown in. I enjoy it and it really has helped me with learning how to fall. Something I had no idea would be so important a few years later in my life:')
A few years ago I was headed to Florida and picked my mom up at the bus station in downtown Houston. I stopped at a gas station across the street to fill up. I was carrying quite a bit of cash because I don't like credit cards or checks, which my husband was upset about. A guy with "dead eyes" walked up to me and demanded money. He had a rolled up paper and was acting like he had a knife or something in it. I was blocked. The pumps on one side, the car beside me and my mother standing behind me, all upset and yelling at the guy to "get a job!". I wasn't about to give him my purse on the seat and listen to my husband gripe at me for the next year so I stuck my hand out in a defensive postion and he backed up and gave me this chilling look of hate and walked off. I'm thinking oh, I'm good. I'm so tough, until I realized that when I extended my arm I was still holding the nozzle with my finger on the trigger and he thought I was going to spray him with gas:')
If the only weapon ya got is gas, you might be able to make that work! Douse him and you can chase him of with matches!
LOL...I had to laugh at that. You and your mom were very brave, in a scary situation. All the reason to pack.
:') Yall feeling better?
I hope so. :~D
You can wipe them off with a rag, then let it sit for awhile. It'll soak in.
