Help,,, need input...
That happens to us when our regular mailman goes on vacation and a new person fills in for the week.
I wouldn't get too upset.
Union rules!
My mail carrier is punctual, clean and orderly. She's got nice legs, too.
I ship 10-20 packages a day via Priority Mail for asmall web based business that I own and I can count on 1 finger the number of delivery problems I've had in the last 2 years. Was never a fan of the USPS in the past but I am now.
Look at it this way, maybe you're getting your Tuesday mail on Monday night. How would you know the difference!?!?
I dont know whats going on there .. here I have the BEST mailman...Hes older probably in early sixties....I get lots of packages and he always brings them to my front porch, stops and gives the pups a milkbone, whatever and is genuinely nice and I just love him....
I dont go to the Post Office, so I cant comment on that..
I dunno, but every single Wednesday my mail comes at approximately 7 p.m. and it's ALWAYS JUNK MAIL. Every single week, the same thing. Neighbors get only junk on Wednesdays too. Wednesday, the regular guy (who looks as if he was in the movie Deliverance) is not working. Kinda weird.
Hey, at least you got your mail that day. Wasn't it Newman who horded the mail?
Perhaps they were shortstaffed that day and your mail person was doubling up. As someone else stated, this happens on our route when our regular guy is on vacation. I can set my clock by my regular guy.
it is government run, enough said
That said, I believe that our Postal workers want to do a good job for their customers and they have pride in their work. It's the supervision that screws things up.
The incompetents are taking over.
In those cases folks have to work overtime to get your mail to you, even if it takes until 8 PM.
While the Bush42 Boom continues, expect your mail service to deteriorate, and if we can get the unemployment rate down around 4%, expect it to become absolutely abominable, as well as your UPS, FEDEX, Purolator, Billybob's, etc. delivery services. You'll begin having some serious problems moving household goods even down the street to say nothing of across the continent!
The folks at the fastfood restaurants will become surly, and Heaven forfend that you try to get assistance at your local Kinko's, particularly after standing in line 3 or 4 hours for a $2.00 job.
We'll be begging for More Mexicans to emigrate before you know it.
My mailman will fold and crumple bills and magazines to fit into my (admittedly small) apartment building mailbox. It does save me from having to drive downtown (to a not-so-nice area) to get mail that was held because it was too big, though.
The UPS and FedEx guys are great, though!
Our mail was 7 hours late yesterday too. I see you're in Calif also. I'm in Simi Valley. Did we experience the same slowdown?
We just moved to a new house and the change of address drill was a nightmare. Still not sure if we got all of our mail. The first card we sent them was sent back to us at our old address with no explanation. We put in a new one and went about a week with no mail. We went to the PO to check on it and they had no idea where it was. After yelling at the Post Mistress we filled out a new card and it was still several days before we started getting mail at our new address. Part of the problem was the employees at the PO for our old address could barely speak or understand english, how they got the job I'll never know. Needless to say we are not happy campers when it comes to the USPS.
I have observed that the counter service has becme exemplary. They are competing with FedEx and UPS and they know it. The Union goons at UPS have turned that company into what the Post Office used to be. Surly, unresponsive and lazy.
Where I live, it the mail is that late, it's because someone missed their shift or called in sick and did so on short enough notice that they couldn't get anyone to fill in.
I've seen the Postmaster(mistress?) herself out tooling around in a mail truck to pick up the slack some days. I like most of our mail people, and the ones I don't like always seem to disappear after a couple of weeks anyway. Not that I had anything to do with that (that sounded sort of ominous).
They've all gone postal..........
