The 41 Long Colt is generally disparaged today, but Elmer Keith thought well of it. He said that it hit harder than any loading of the .38 Special and it was an excellent man-stopper. He said that the heavy (200gr) soft-lead, blunt-nose bullet hit a lot harder than you would expect from its statistics.
The 41LC was the 5th most popular chambering in the Colt SAA and was produced by the tens-of-thousands in several later double-action revolvers. There are a lot of them still found on gunshow tables.
Now that Starline has reasonably priced (although not cheap) brass, more people should try it, particularly in CAS shooting. It is suprising how well it does, accuracy wise, considering you can literally drop the bullet through the barrel by gravity alone.
Never tried the .41 Magnum. Too common I guess.
