I was listening to Chris Core's show on WMAL in Washington D.C. driving home from work. They were discussing Kitty Kelly's allegations. Someone called up and swore her husband had attended Alcoholics Anonymous with George Bush in Georgetown when his father was President, and that he had been addicted to alcohol and cocaine.
Core is a strange guy who generally seems to have a lot of common sense and is probably going to vote for Bush, but at the same time seems to be unable to believe people are flat out lying. He seemed to be taking the call, which sounded preposterous on its face, seriously. He said her husband should not have revealed the fact that Bush was at an AA meeting. Later in the show he said he "wasn't sure what to make of" the call.
Core's an independent who seems to try real hard not to sound partisan in either direction, so it could be he was playing dumb. I emailed Core that it sounded like a seminar caller type call. I pointed out Bush lived in Texas, so why would he be attending weekly AA meetings in Washington?
What I was wondering is if anyone is aware of a website or something orchestrating such calls to talk shows or heard something similar?
I would be unsurprised.
I will be equally unsurprised if there are "seminar terrorists" blowing up buildings "for the CHILL-ILL-DRUUUN!" after Kerry loses the election.
What's the kerning, Kenneth?
I do not believe President ever lived in Georgetown, Texas.
I believe they're talking about the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC.
I can say with certainty, if George Bush Sr. was president at the time, there is no way the President's son and namesake are going to be attending AA meetings. That kind of information couldn't be contained from the press and that's just not acceptable in American politics.
If he did have an addiction problem and needed treatment or counseling, it would have been done very discreetly at a private institute where discretion could be assured.
I heard the call.
The woman had the angry tone of a Rat rageaholic.
Does anyone really believe that those creeps running Gore's election wouldn't have exposed that, along with his DWI back in 2004?
Georgetown's where a lot of the powerbrokers in D.C. live. Hillary's D.C. residence is there.
Can you believe Core was taking it seriously? What do you make of that?
This campaign's been going on for so long it almost seems like it could be...
Given the nature of the AA program, I would say that anyone willing to 'out' a fellow participant is not a reliable source. It's the 'anonymous' part, don't you know?
Much as a lot of people would think otherwise, Bush is a human being with all the foibles that humans have. The Second Coming is not here yet. It is possible that Bush has sinned in his younger years. Keep in mind that we are selecting a President, not a Savior.
To whom are you replying?

Core kept flipping from annoyance at the caller, to annoyance at her hubbie (for talling her about GWB and AA), to defending Bush for taking care of his problem. It was odd. He should have dropped it.
But the caller had a real chip on her shoulder, like she was trying to defend Kitty Kelly from the evil Rove attack machine.
This was a woman who said her husband went to AA in 1988, and GWB admitted to a cocaine addiction, which her husband told her. She sounded like a Rat to me, way too angry, and the classic Rat low-blow. Maybe it was Paul Begala with one of those voice altering machines.
The Democrats, on the other hand, have this type of "up-standing" individual in THEIR party..........individuals which other people have NO PROBLEM coming forth with allegations about, on NATIONAL TELEVISION, WHICH HAVE NEVER BEEN CHALLENGED!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAS THIS WOMAN EVER BEEN SUED BY BILL CLINTON FOR THE FOLLOWING?????? I THINK NOT!!!!!!
