I don't want to sound stupid, but can someone please tell me what a blog is? It's a new word I keep hearing in relation to something on the web. Thanks for your help with this out of touch freeper.
Short for weblog - web log - online journal.
Thanks for asking...I've been wondering for the longest time, and just hadn't asked yet. Now I know. :-) "web-log".
Yes. The traditional media outlets have recently lumped all of us under the term "bloggers", but FR is technically not a blog.
A blog - Web Log - is a sort of an online diary. A Web page where folks make daily entries. It differs from a Web Site, in that a blog is usually just a single page - a Web site can hold any number of pages.
Yeah. I think it was both intentionally and unintentionally viewed as 'we blog', thus the rise of the word 'blog'.
I'll add to my last post that it kind of bugs me that they keep calling us bloggers. There is nothing wrong with a blog, but Free Republic is a lot more than a blog. It's a powerful interactive news service that runs on the engine of it's members. There is nothing that rivals it and it has proved that news is more than something we just have to read, wring our hands over, and accept. Around here, it's a contact sport.
Thank you all. Freepers are great folks.
