I was attending morning services at a conservative Christian church lately. There comes a time when the children are called to the front for special Bible story time as normal part of the service.
The story teller tells the story as they always do and then at the end they ask one of the children if any of them would like to lead the prayer time. A little boy about 5 or 6 years old volunteers.
The little boy starts his prayer saying a few things, and then he said pouring out his heart, "God, please help President Bush to win the election...and help John Kerry to be a better man."
People looked up in stunned surprise and most started laughing sorta in an approving way. Talk about waking up the congregation. Kids, God bless 'em, they can say the dog-gondest things. This one was a classic and he just about brought the house down.

Is that child registered as a '527'? Better watchout, McCain might be after him/her.

SSShhh. That child will cost his church their tax status if the IRS is tipped off to this partisan comment/sarcasm

Not to worry, the pastor got up for his sermon time and did a good natured "disclaimer". Got everyone chuckling again.

Oh there are more liberal democrats in this denomination than I would want to admit. Done my share of battle with them.

"Not to worry, the pastor got up for his sermon time and did a good natured "disclaimer". Got everyone chuckling again."
I had a similar experience in my local Independent Fundamental Baptist Church. My pastor is on top of the laws required to maintain our church's tax free status. I know because we've discussed it in detail. So when the Florida primaries were coming up, he was telling the congregation they should make sure they are registered and they should investigate the candidates to see which shared their "values" before they cast their vote. He made the same "disclaimer" that he couldn't tell anyone who to vote for, especially from the pulpit due to the tax laws. From the back of the church, an old man, (WWII vet), yelled out "BUSH! The preacher may not be able to tell you, but I sure can!" Same response, everyone chuckled and the preacher gave his "disclaimer" again to make sure all bases were covered.
So, not only from the mouths of babes, but good 'ol vets, too! I was talking with a dinner cruise ship Captain yesterday and found out he was in the Navy in WWII. With his permission, I asked what he thought of John Kerry. His response was simply "I hate him!".
