Has anyone been to a Newsgroup? Google allows you to search newsgroups. I've look at political news groups and they are quite vitrolic, especially from the left. The left shows no class, empathy, and respect. Makes me wonder about the left.

Discussion forums without moderation are quickly devoid of their best posters.
I participated in FidoNet Echomail forums back in the 90's, which were moderated. What an ugly experience when I tried newsgroups.

I have been to Newsgroups. Users there can be real jerks. I like it here at FR. I feel very welcomed here.

I spent years on the newsgroups thanks to Whitewater and Clinton.
Usenet political groups can be good if you've never real dwelled on the springs of your beliefs. Like life, unexamined beliefs aren't worth having. Having to defend them against opposition leads to better debating skills and a more solid foundation to your outlook on life. Moderated partisan forums lead to me-tooism and retention of faulty convictions for noncritical thinkers.
