Memo to Pollyanna: Thanks for all the wet blankets, BUT...
Vanity | 4SEP04 | an annoyed Belisaurius

TO: Pollyannas
FROM: The rest of us
SUBJ: "Don't get cocky about the bounce"

Enough of the wet blanket mentality, already. No sooner do we get good political news, and somebody here applauds it, then they get swamped with:

1. Don't get cocky, we've still got xxx number of days until the election.

Really? Thanks for the newsflash, Captain Obvious. I haven't already seen that gem 250 times since last night. Maybe 251 will finally get it done.

2. Those democrats are really gonna get down and dirty, now.

You don't say. What's new. They're scumbags. Nothing new there, so let's just moveon.org on that one.

3. We need to run like we're ten points down.

The hell you say. We need to run like we're ten points UP, with confidence and moxie. We don't want to circle the wagons, we want people to jump on the BANDWAGON. Kerry is running like he's ten points down. You can smell it on him. Well, that, and whiskey, but that's a topic for another thread.

4. Don't get overconfident, we need to work hard.

We're conservatives, we ARE confident, and we don't need to be told to work, especially not every third post on a given thread.

5. Kerry is great come from behind campaigner.

Sure he is, if he can get you into a contest measuring Vietnam-service penis sizes. He's been trying to do that for months, and he's just corkscrewing his numbers into the QUAGMIRE. This isn't another campaign for a safe seat in TEDachusetts, it's a national race, post 9-11. I'd say the SwiftVets have struck the Vietnam cudgel from his hand, and that's what he's beaten previous opponents with.

I know you folks mean well, but we've all seen those same points repeated over and over. Post a funny picture, or make a crack about Kerry already. He's a pretentious liberal prig getting his karmic ZOT.

Let's have some fun with him. Treat him like the TROLL that he is. Ridicule is the best weapon against his ilk. Bush-Chaney'04 is turning him into a walking laughtrack. Join in the fun.

Points 7,8,9 ...

It's not enough to defeat Kerry. The win must be solid,
so there's no cheat effect, no recounts, no lawsuits,
and no way to make any sort of "stolen election" case.

Rachet up a notch, and cause a party-line coattail
effect that destroys the Dem's Senatorial fillibuster.

Go for broke and relegate the Democratic Party to
third party status. If they get beat soundly enough,
the disparate special-interest constituencies that
make up that party will split (and leave the Clintons
sitting in the drivers seat, with the reins,
no horses, and a wagonload of hangers-on wondering
who's gonna pick up the bar tab).

kerry is no bigger a buffoon than was algore-- an effin' idiot if there ever was one. Four years ago, a month or two ahead of the election a lot of us here thought it would be a cakewalk -- record turn out of broken glass Republicans craving sanity after 8 years of beezlebubba-- and all that.

We survived by an eyelash. A lot of us have not forgotten.

Thank you thank you thank you thank you!

I've expressed bits of what you wrote a few times in the last couple of weeks, but you've written it up superbly.

WE KNOW WE CAN'T GIVE UP!

(And if we don't, wagging your finger at us won't change that.)

Anyone interested enough in politics to even come here in the first palce knows enough to not get lazy.

You make another outstanding point about running as if we're ten points up. That's where the energy makes us feel bigger, as opposed to nervous. We don't want someone so scared to express the truth because they'll lose more ground.

Look at the Kerry campaign--they're acting like they're ten points down. (Because they are!) You think THAT is how we should be acting?

How do you think Kerry got to this position? By acting cautiously. Who the heck wants to join a team like that? People want to be with the winners, because winners are being themselves, and doing what they love and knowing the people will be with them not because they've sucked up to them, but because the people see their ideas are RIGHT.

Thanks again, this had to be said.

I just don't think those who need to follow this advice will do so...kinda like the people THEY are lecturing.

I'm a Florida military absentee voter. I will NEVER forget. That said,

Confidence sells, fear smells.

You've got a great tagline, though, so I'll give you a pass.

If Kerry continues his meltdown, its over for him. The antics of his last few days are causing several hardcore dems to speak out loud that Kerry doesn't have what it take to lead the country. They love the guy but they now have doubts. One Kerry supporter mentioned that she is so disgusted with Kerry that she won't vote this year. I live in NY so this can't be good for Kerry.

The goal should be for the Bush Team to keep pushing until the last second. Give nothing to chance. Do not rest. Fight like this is the fight of your life.... because it is.
