Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I believe the quote was fer $200... the burned out clutch is his problem, part of his overhead... if'n he tries to charge you more, tell him tuh pound sand...
brush hawgin' can be lucrative, but it's got a lotta overhead... equipment maintenance, fuel, transportation...
$30-$35 an hour/acre is the going rate around hear... burn out a clutch, blow a tire, break a blade, and there goes yer profit fer the day...

Cool truck! Dwarves need trucks methinks. :-)
I am shopping for Camaros. *sigh* My '68 Chevy was stolen from out of my driveway last month. *sniff* That was my Grama's car. No word on it yet. It's gone. I figure a Camaro might make me feel just a smidgeon better.

I didn't think he'd charge more because of the clutch, I just wondered if the stopping and head-scratching was considered part of my 'hour' in his mind!
Between the failing light, and the time spent staring at the clutch, I just think I need another good hour of work today to really count two good hours.

I had a dream once...I was with the Fellowship in a warehouse for some reason, and we were all looking for Pippin. I was with Gimli, who was wearing Daniel Boone frontier type outfit with fringe and all and we were running around trying to figure out what happened to Pippin. It was a very strange dream.
A dwarf that dresses like Daniel Boone SHOULD have a pickup truck.

The little wheaten Americauna started laying, you know...little tiny eggs! Just amazingly blue-green color.
The other Americauna...the blue one that is the same age, but has always been bigger and has a beard...she's been going in and out of the nest boxes, scoping things out. She's squatting in a mighty way now, so I imagine it'll be any day now for her.

Hi gnad!
Hmmmm... maybe brush hawgin' would be a suitable living for an elf who wants to move back to the country. I was thinkin' lawn care.
When I was mowin' my aunt and uncle's lawn last summer on their ridin' lawnmower a couple of guys stopped and asked me if I'd be interested in mowing their lawns. just wonderin' if that had anything to do with me mowin' in shorts and a bikini top.........
I'm kinda lookin' toward maybe movin' down west of Austin... out in the country, on one of the lakes.
