New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
There are signs for brushhawging all over the place here...I always wondered if brushhawging brought in a decent income...
It might pay OK.... It's also hard on equipment, and the equipment is expensive. They burn up tractors and mowers and have to rebuild or replace often. The guy burned the clutch out of the mower yesterday, but he didn't appear to need it (!!)
I think most of the folks that do this kind of work for a living are just guys that don't work well for other people ;~D
*yawn* g'mornin....
Good morning, Sunshine!!!!!!
Did we wake you?
Morning!
I should be awake anytime now...
Been up, been to the gym, but was just sorta dozin'.
At least it's raining...
In other news, since I'm doing the Christmas show this year, I thought it would be a good idea to invest in a pair of men's "character shoes" that I would keep and wear only on stage. (they're basic black oxfords).
Finally found a pair in my size...$183.00...never mind.
Did I tell you that Steve is gonna get me a Beetle? A restoration project. He likes the idea.
Of course, unless someone "gives" us one, it'll have to wait till ASG, which is when the restoring would start anyways.
We're going to a classic car event this weekend, to support the troops...this Sat. being 9/11. I hope to see a restored Beetle there. I have plans to take the fire station treats, as usual and then donate blood. Then off we go to the classic car event!
I'm so looking forward to it that I hope it will counter the soberness of the date a bit.
Hi Rosie! :-)
School is just getting going. Last week was the first week and it was a week of more botched things. Pleeeeease don't shoot me... but I sent my first ever nasty email to IT last week. It wasn't really an ugly email... I just documented the ways in which the tech assigned to so some stuff in my lab last summer screwed up my stuff. This guy has worked for the college for 3 years now. He's already established his rep. Many instructors AND my buddy Jim who works in IT have forbidden him to even touch their stuff. 3 years ago my boss threw him off our campus. *sigh*
He was assigned to put virus protection on the computers in my lab. Okay, that *sounded* like a good thing... but... the decision the college has made on virus protection is to use AVG, and I noticed when I was back here in July that he worked 5 hours and only managed to get AVG downloaded on 2 (TWO) machines!!! I didn't say anything because that guy doesn't work for me... but really!!!
Anyway, when I got in to start classes last week I found that he had uninstalled some of the programs I needed to teach on some computers. Different programs on different machines. AND on some of them, he had reinstalled some software but used old versions. Some of the machines would have current, some obsolete and some none of the exact same software!!! EEEEK!!!!
The network also was not accessible in my classroom and my friend Jim actually came over on Wednesday to fix that problem. However, when Jim got done there was a problem with the back row of 5 computers in the lab. They wouldn't connect to the net. So, Jim and I puzzled over that for a minute then went to check the connections... and discovered.... THAT THE CABLES WERE COMPLETELY REMOVED FROM THE BACK ROW!!! No sign of them cables anywhere... they just ain't there!!!!
We were bumfuzzled. Jim asked me to email his boss and document the problems. He said that she's always hearing the complaints from him - but if she heard it specifically from an instructor maybe it would get her attention.
Anyway, I spent last week having to correct the software configurations on all my machines. *sigh* Still no network cables. But, can you imagine this? I know from what you've said in the past that this just must blow you away!!!
/vent
And good morning again! :-)
YIKES!
I still just want a pair of red Chuck Taylors...but sheesh, they're something like $45 now! A bit much for canvas sneakers that wear out fast! I could buy a pair of leather sneakers for almost that much and they'd last for years.
I want a pair of red Chuck Taylors.
Hi there!
Brush hawgs... MMMMmmmm definitely an appreciated item by folks who've lived in the country. :-)
And 2J, just let the jedis sleep a minute, this cool weather is good for sleepin'! :-)
