The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I was just thinking I should write a story about my life. It's been a pretty interesting life, if you ask me!

Heh!

I haven't really lived though, until I pull a catfish bigger than me out of a hole in a river bank.

Once upon a time there was a toaster. A toaster corrupted by bad habits it learned as it sat in a pawnshop. For instance: sometimes it's elements wouldn't heat up, other times it popped too soon, and still at other times it would not pop at all leaving charred bread slabs in its slots......

Now how do I get Guido in there?

You'll figure it out....

I am fighting an urge to write a Victorian-style novel, or at least one with Victorian chapter headings ("A Lost Cat; Introduction To A Toaster; The Importance of Bread; Italians; On Pawnshops; The Toaster Again")... hey, that would help my word count!

If the wordcounter picks it up, it counts.

There could be a cat... would the cat help? Maybe Guido is looking for that cat when he falls prey to the Toaster.

Maybe...maybe. But first he has to see the dead DVD player shopper on the floor of the pawnshop.

More likely that the cat senses the Evil OverToaster and bails out.
