The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

The storms in that pic stayed mostly north of us... the real front came through at about 4:30 am, big thunderbooms woke me up from a sound sleep! Rained off and on most of the morning...

Just a reminder that the 2-hour pilot episode of the series "Lost", featuring Dominic Monaghan (Merry), will be re-broadcast on ABC tonight, about an hour and a half from now (8 pm Eastern/7 pm Central).

I'll have to bug you for the final FMA pretty soon, right? And episode 48.

I missed FR today! Couldn't get in for ages!

Had a fairly slow day...mostly did a lot more cleaning and organizing. We also went to the faculty / staff garage sale at the college, and I got a very nice new bathroom scale. I know...odd place to get something like that, but it was there, it was one I knew I'd seen on-line, and though it's not digital, it's a much bigger dial and much more serious scale than the seven dollar one I have from Wal-Mart. So I got it - was a buck.

Then some of us met up here and had a great lunch (well...*I* thought I done good) of beef stroganoff and then watched Toy Story 2, which I STILL think is highly entertaining for a kids movie.

After that we watched the debate again since Jim and I had both only seen it on our own. Kinda fun seeing it with commentary. ;-) MST2King debates...it's a bit wrong, but oh well!

Can you see it from where you are?

On the webcam, it looks like it's steaming again, like it did yesterday.

Afternoon All: A freepless Saturday till now, went to the "Strut your Mutt" in Brookside. Guess there was a couple hundred assorted pooches from yorkies to a newfie. That Newfie was quite the 'bear'. Good looking dog, wonder how he takes the heat and humidity. But for the rest of us a good percentage were standard American dogs-the kind that sort of looks like a (insert favorite breed).

Gypsy girl got a blue bandanna as a Wayside Waif 'Alumni'. She was very well mannered but had a look like, who are all these people and where did all these dogs come from.

The old Brookside trolley right of way is now a hiking trail and that was the route. Giveaways and Micro chipping was the order of the day for the booths.

Sounds like you had a good day. I disturbed a bunch of whiteflies and got rid of the old tomato plants.

I hiked! We went about three, four miles. A nice walk in the woods.

It was Homecoming day at school, so the roads were all blocked north of campus and I couldn't get there to do backups this morning. Had to run up just a few minutes ago.

Tonight: studying. Tomorrow: more Esca with friends. And waiting eagerly for the final episode... don't you have 48 and 49? It should be 50 and 51 you don't have.

I have 49...but no 48. First disk had 45, 46 and 47, second had 49 and the MP3s.

I need to get rid of the cherry tomato plant. It's a monster...but dying now that it's so cold at night.

*sigh* Didn't get around to planting bulbs today. Again.

Guess that'll be Monday.

's OK! I was very happy to have the first three, and I can wait. There was a lot to take in in those few episodes.

Plus I have music to listen to!

Well my lavendar and rosemary survived the summer and my aloe is putting out like crazy! The ficus grew quite a bit out there on the patio.

I still have lots n' lots n' lots of mint.

I'm running out of places to tuck it. But I hate to start slaughtering the new shoots. Gonna have to, though.

Same goes for the sage. It's monstrous.
