The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Thanks!

There's a box in the back yard...it was probably a sandbox but there's nothing in it right now...that I'm thinking about turning into an asparagus bed...or maybe strawberries or something.

Is anyone watching Fox News tonight? Alan Colmes looks REALLY bad.

Not the typical praying mantis-head bad, but "seriesly stuned" bad.

Maybe he lost his beeber.

Hmmm... no fox here, so I'll catch a replay later. It *is* kinda hard to tell when Colmes looks bad. He could be out all night on a bender, sleep in his suit, and still look pretty much the same.

It's beyond a beeber!

I wish I could get a screencap. He looks like that Scanners pic Bear posted earlier on the thread.

His skin is rotting off of his face or something. Gross looking.

Say...

Now that FR is letting me display 250 posts/page again, I was just scrolling back through the thread in order to archive it. Anyway, I was looking at the pictures at Msg. 4652 and discovered why it was taking so long to download them: they're huge! The download speed wasn't bad, it was just that the .jpg files were over 1 MB each in size. Looking at the image properties, it looks like you uploaded the raw digital camera images and then used "width" and "height" to resize the images in the post. So, Boomspeed wasn't really at fault.

What you might try in the future is bringing the pics up in some image editing program and resizing them before you upload. That will change the actual file size, so they'll upload and download quicker to/from Boomspeed.

Thanks Bear!

I was hoping that I could resize them in the Kodak software I have installed, but I could not find any resize option on any of the edit menus.

So I settled for resizing them thinking it would load quicker, but I think I'm best off posting links to the pics until I find a better software.

Well, I'm thinking Miss Kitty might find an 'alternative' use for the sand box.

You can have 'series' fun this winter laying out your garden and flower beds. Also probably less likely to loose the crops to deer and such at the new place.

I do think it might slowly start to dawn on the high-fivin' democrats that their boy didn't do as well as they thought, after all.

Say what you want about the debate, but Da President left no low-hanging fruit for the dems to pick off. Even that stupid video they made of his off-camera expressions is, well... nothing. I saw it, and frankly, Dubya looked about like I would have if I'd had to stand on the stage with Flipper. It was actually kinda funny. Not embarrassing at all.

Kerry, on the other hand didn't just leave low-hanging fruit, he picked them up and boxed them and left them sitting there with a bow on them.

There were three or four tasty morsels that he and the dems have to know will be featuring prominently in Bush adverts by the end of the week.

They can think they "won" the debate all they want. Just like Mondale, Dukakis, Gore... but "winning" a debate means converting people to your point of view. Nada on that score.

Round these parts, we always got Squirrels. Just some years more than others. Plus we got gray and fox squirrels, though generally more grays.

I don't think anyone is arguing the fact that Kerry is a better speaker in terms of a formal smooth-talker. In that respect, he may have "won".

Bottom line though is substance, and Kerry did nothing last night to prove he is anything else besides an empty suit who says whatever he has to say at the moment to gain an edge.

Kerry repulses me the same way Gore did. I really want to feel compassion for him, but his constant lies and intentional deceptions just drain every last ounce of pity I might have felt at one point.

God help our country of Kerry gets elected. :-(
