The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Bush had a strong close.

Made me think of a SOTU.

How do you put a basement under a house?

The President won on the closing. And I think he won on the substance.

I'm not as confident about the style.

I loved it though when the President rolled his eyes at Kerry. Not sure everyone would've seen that. Fox had a split screen.

Hopefully the sheeple will decide that they don't want to look at his horseface for 4 years.

I don't know if you saw it, but on Fox when they showed them split screen they raised Bush's half up so he could look as tall as Kerry ;-)

Yep, I noticed it because I heard that one of the rules was no podiums or height enhancers. People seem to think that taller is better somehow...

Well, they had a 'Gimli' and the smarts to dig it out and not bring the house down on themselves. It looked liked they secured corners, put in beams and then dug it out.

The basement walls are concrete blocks, so they hand laid those in. The whole lot has orange construction fencing around it, so our curiousity hasn't been able to be quenched.

Another house was raised, like it was to be moved, then the basement was poured and house lowered. Lot more effort that I would have liked to embark on. OB

GMTA! I was writing what I thought would be fitting reward for the French-looking candidate, when I suddenly realized that might not be the smartest thing to post!

Sheesh, I show up and they all go home? Too bad... I'm all wound up. I love anime club, it's the one place I can relax and be a little bad.
