Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Hi Ruthy! I'm here! The jedis and Steve are camping in the back yard. They'be got chips, soda and my copy of The Two Towers Extended that OT sent me.
They are happy as clams and I have the house to myself.
I'm so glad you are able to get out and about. I couldn't pray it down to a gentle breeze, but I note it did get much less severe...
Still no word from ksen?
Yeah, I think the atmosphere around here at the moment could be described as "guardedly spooked."
I haven't heard from him yet, but I imagine that he must have limited phone access right now. I do hope he gets in touch with us soon! And LCS too!
Oh and I did notice how Frances downgraded after you said you were praying for her to weaken! Hobbit Hole prayers are not to be taken lightly, sis. God just loves us Hole Dwellers! :-D
LOL I actually thought "I hope they're thinkin' of me!" when the severity began to diminish.
Still, it's nothing to sneeze at and I'm still concerned about ksen.
Is Ivan tracking at you, too? Think the morons at work will let you leave this time?
Has Florida ever been hit 3 times in one year, Sam? I can't recall it ever happening before.
Ivan is coming in very low, so as long as he stays low, I'm happy. It's that northward turn I worry about, especially when it comes to ~where~ he will decide to turn.
hehehe... I was joking around with my sister that since Frances "missed" us, I'm positive that my boss will keep us working until the first gust over 70mph is recorded in the neighborhood.
I picture theboss standing on top of the building clutching a wind speed device.
I'm certain he is OK, sis. He's probably caught up in clean-up and doesn't have a phone line to use his computer right now.
He'll appear soon though, since he'll more than likely have to go into work sometime this week. :-)
I wouldn't be surprised if FL has been hit 3 times in a season, but I don't know.
I have read, the last few days, that we all grew up in a cycle of low tropical activity, and that it may be now switching to a high activity cycle.
Ivan is following a track similar to that of David in 1979, if I remember right. David, an extremely powerful Cape Verdi hurricane, came right across Hispaniola, lost some power in the mountains, drew a bead on Miami, turned right at the very last minute, and came ashore in Palm Beach as a minor hurricane. At the time, I wasn't smart enough to be scared.
Jeanne was in Baptist Hospital on Kendall Drive with a brand new baby at the time, so we ended up naming him David.
Yeah, an anemometer ;-)
heheheh...I remember David because my parents moved us down from Chicago to Florida that very year. To West Palm Beach, no less. We'd been living in Florida less than 6 months when David hit. *laughing*
I was in 1st grade and all I remember was the sound of the wind banging those shell-shaped hurricane shutters against the windows of our house.
Maybe he'll get blown away. Like Dorothy.
Kevin? to the Wicked Witch of the West, in Chappaqua?
One could only hope. I wouldn't want him to get hurt though. Just tossed off the building and into the dumpster would be nice. :-D
No! Ruthie's boss!
Gosh, I don't want Kevin to get blown away...
You've Got Mail is on TNT now.
I'll stop by later if my eyes are still open. *grin*
Take care.
I bet you're tired of it!
Thanks for checking in! ecurbh and I just got back from having some prime rib.... Now I need to sleep that off!
Too late, it's contagious. I was vutting the lawn, and suddenly the self-propelled wasn't propelling. The fitting that connected the cable from the drive pulley to the handle vanished. All I had left was the end of the cable, with a bit of cable anchor still crimped to it.
With a bit of thinking, and luck, I put a visegrip on the end of the cable, and was able to pivot it against the handlebar to get the drive function working again. Now to get the thing fixed. {sigh}
In GOOD NEWS, my mom is home from the hospital today. The diagnosis was a flare-up of diverticulosis. She's on antibiotics for a while, and has to keep away from nuts, popcorn, berries (because of the tiny seeds), and anything else with seeds in it. Other than the dietary restrictions, she's feeling good, and happy to be home.
Evening OT; we just got back from visiting LSA's folks, Gypsy girl accompanied us and what a good girl she was. Excellent traveling companion for us. She and LSA are now sharing the couch.
Hope all is well for ksen and LCS.
Couldn't remember the exact name of the paint-and there is always wallpaper.
