Whie seving in Korea ('87-'88), I saw and goofed around with a Korean* typewriter. I remember mainly that it seemed to have just a few more keys than a QWERTY, built three-letter syllable groups automatically and had at least one special button that skipped a space allowing for a two-letter syllable group (such as the syllable "long e", usually tranliterated as "i".
/pointless rambling
Off for coffee.
*For those who don't know, Korean is mostly a series of consonant-vowel-consonant syllables which are written in phnetic syllable groups. Example, their word for themselves is, iirc, hankooksaram, roughly Korean People, written in phonetic characters han-kook-sa-ram.
I resemble that remark!
literally...
What meaneth "woot!"?
Good morning!
Izzit Friday yet??
The leaves are starting to look gorgeous. Our town is having a Fall Festival this weekend, and after this rain, it's gonna be beautiful!! Clare's Girl Scout Troop is going to do Face Painting on the Town Common for the kidlets.
Got Hydrobics this morning, and boy do I need it! My back is feeling 'stove up', so I need to move around some.
Oh, by the way, GOOD MORNING!
Gooooood morning!
Well...the good weather couldn't last forever. Looks like we're getting your rain in a bit, Suzi. I just hope it doesn't ruin the leaves...last year about this time we had a rainstorm come through with a lot of wind and pretty much all the leaves came down at once. We barely got to look at 'em. *snif* I think that was actually a few weeks later than this, though, so we're prolly OK!
I think I may pick up some leaves to scan in so I can show folks the colors - I swear, there are even pink and purple leaves!
Good morning everyone!
Well, after struggling with my nerve for a week, I have decided today is the day. (Actually, yesterday was the day, but it didn't work out.) I'm calling our local Army Aviation Support facility.
I have the number and tried call yesterday, but couldn't get anyone at the extension given for "administration", didn't think I should plug in the extension for "commander" so I put in the number for "operations" and got a very nice lady who, although she talked to me for 15-20 minutes and seemed tickled with my delight in the soldiers flying over (I didn't mention the circling)...she couldn't give me the info I needed. She said I need to speak to administration, but they aren't in on Mondays.
She said "Wow...nobody ever calls or writes to say anything nice...usually they just complain about the noise! It'll be nice to hear something positive!"
Speaking of the choppers, one flew over last night around 10:30pm...very low, right over our house. The windows shook and it jolted Matthew out of sleep and he came running into our room and said "That scared me so bad my legs are wobbly!"
Nothing wakes Joshua up.
Good morning! I bet there are a lot of people who stop and watch and enjoy when they fly over, but I am sure she is right that the only ones who write in are the complainers ;~D
That's just a shame, imo. It's like complaining about a fire truck going by! (Of course, when a fire truck goes by with sirens going, the jedis and I love that too...although we hope no one is hurt, of course.)
Well, people are impossible ;~D
And people in general are much better at complaining than at praise.
Good morning! ~sip~
Steve drove me up to the ARNG in Tulsa Saturday and there were rows and rows of Black Hawks! I told him,
"Just pull in and see if someone will come out and talk to us!"
"I'm not pulling in there! See that big stop sign and the words 'Restricted! Authorized Personnel Only'!!" he exclaimed!
"I bet they wouldn't mind..." I mumbled, to no avail.
I was thrilling to see the choppers though...to get a good calm look at them just sitting there, instead of the hurried and excited look I get of them in the air.
Heh...I'm guessing someone WOULD have "come out to talk"...but maybe not in the way you hoped...
Yeah...that's what Steve said...
LOL!
hey...are y'all close enough to point the webcam towards Mt. St. Helens?
* mountain go BOOM *
It's dark out still, but I think I see it still sitting there.
