The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Posted on 09/02/2004 2:18:28 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, or just the abbreviation they use on bank charges.

Oh, and several times on the radio hourly news today, I heard J F'n refer to "after we won the war [in Iraq]" and then "correct" himself to "we won the military part of the war". Did anyone else here hear that?

So John, would you say that "major combat has ended"? And since we won the "military part" of the war, what part are we in now?

What are you squirming for, John? Do you have to go potty or something?

Yeah - those are all harder cases. I would definately take a couple pasture ornament type rescues later in life when I have my own place, but right now, we need a good proven trained and dependable riding horse for ecurbh to learn on that is safe and strong, not a rehab project. The horse that fits that bill will be worth money. I don't think it's worth the gamble of taking up my available space and money on a 'may be good later with patience'.

That's another thought that occurred to me. Or it could be a third party pulling a scam using that name; but in that case it seems like it wouldn't have traced back to them.

I'll see if a search on that name turns up anything else.

With the interest in horses and the evidence of shootin' at SmoochMoot: have y'all considered getting into "Cowboy Action Shooting"? Of course the investment in firearms-- single-action Colt Peacemakers, Henry rifles and the like-- would be not inconsiderable...

Headin' your way Sunday morning...though I'll come up a bit short. Flying to Atlanta and bussing to Anniston, Alabama for 5 days. Won't quite get to Florida.

Standardbreds are really weird to ride, they don't trot, they pace which feels very strange. And they often don't have a real canter or gallop. I rode one once.

That other mare seems like a nice horse. Horses off the track can be a little hot, but she's now got some age and settling down behind her.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see if I can see any of the impacts of Ivan. I'll be up in the northeast area of 'bama, so I suspect I won't see much. And they're going to have us goin' about 12 hours a day, so I won't have a lot of time. Will enjoy the return to summer weather (though it's dern nice here today). Going to see if I can get one of those sweatshirts with a big 'BAMA on it!

No worries. If Jeanne hits anywhere near me, I'll post pics for you all to enjoy. ;-)

I'm one of those people that love horses, but have ridden only once or twice. I live vicariously through Hair and ecurbh!

If you want to see some really pretty horses you can check out the horse classified at www.equinehits.com

Here's a little more.

According to cybernooky.com (LOL), FIL, Inc. has a common address with FantasiesInLace.com, Inc. (Terry Richards). FYI, Cybernooky seems to specialize in 'Toys' and other devices, while FantasiesInLace.com has clothing (if you can call it that). Other than being connected, I didn't find any new info.

Sheesh! Now they're saying that even if the hurricane comes into Palm Beach County, hurricane gusts may be felt here in Miami Dade.

And if it jogs to the south a bit, Miami will have sustained hurricane winds of at least 74mph. :-P

Conditions will begin to deteriorate at around noon tomorrow.
