Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I suppose any gun shop should know about clubs that might help people get started?Yeah... - of course, I've been taken more seriously at some than at others, just keep shopping, and buy the gun from the one that treats you well!

I'm wondering if there are any places where I could take a class sort of thing, using a borrowed or rented gun before I jump in with both feet.
I'll hafta look around, I guess. There are no shortage of gun shops around here...even this dinky town has several.

What can't you make up?A school in Michigan that wanted to do an emergency drill involving terrorists blowing up a school bus... and instead of any old terrorist, for the purpose of the drill they decided to make them "wacky homeschoolers that hate public ed".

See you later...school's starting!
PS: Joshua really needed a geo-board...I kept thinking "I'll have Steve make one" but never got around to it. A woman came in to co-op the other day and said "Anyone want a free geo-board?" Hehehe!

What's a geo-board? Something to do with geography?

Are there any firing ranges or gun clubs, public or private? They might have classes. Gun handling is very 'home schooled'.... most learn from other friends or family.
Our 'public' range is actually owned by the police dept, and they do a safety class, but it's a short film and test and not a real gun handling class, but it's a place to start to see if there is anything offered.. It isn't rocket science. Once you have fired it, then you just need practice with lots of bullets, and to keep aware of bad habits you shouldn't get into. There are book perhaps on sighting and on the other things to consider in stance and style.
I think we should go shooting when you are here for the wedding!

Mornin'.
Gots a busy day. We're leaving tonite for Kentucky (alumni board). Will be back late Saturday night. We ~may~ have Internet whilst we're gone. We're taking Jrs laptop...since he won't be using it for the next two weeks. Something about a missed English essay. To be fair, apparently more than half the class didn't turn it in (which makes me wonder a bit). Still, it was assigned. Teacher contacted all the parents of students who didn't turn it in...we like this teacher.
~sigh~ Already been po'd by an email the boss sent out announcing the realignment of duties. I've come to terms with the fact that I'll report to Rasputin, I've known that was coming. But in two separate emails to the entire organization the boss really couldn't have been more demeaning towards me.
It's politics. I know that. But he was a friend before he took this job (we used to do worship team stuff together). That just makes it suck all that much more...
To: RosieCotton
That's right. It's a manipulative. Joshua's is a blue plastic one. It has different colored rubber bands.
Geoboard.

There are some firing ranges...I've never really looked into them before, but they may well have some basic safety classes. I'm pretty sure they're now requiring people to take a hunting safety class before getting a license (which people are ticked about, but that's another story), so they at least have those...but they're prolly rifle oriented. I dunno...maybe not! In any case, if I at least knew how to load and handle a gun I'd be a little less afraid to just experiment! But I'm also worried a bit about expense. This is probably an interest to be explored long term (like next summer, when heating bills are past) rather than this week. But it's certainly at the back of my mind.
I think we should go shooting when you are here for the wedding!
That would be vey cool!

Ah...geometry rather than geography. We used to use something similar just to play with, but ours was just a board with nails, and we mostly played around with getting musical notes from the rubber bands.

Why does that not surprise me! LOL
Joshua makes all kinds of designs with it. He just sits and plays with it too, like it's some great toy! I'm kinda surprised by that.

Mornin'
You know, I'm not gonna let it ruin my day. But I was a heck of a lot more motivated before I read that.
And it doesn't change how anything operates or what I do from day to day.
(I still haven't seen Office Space)
To: Corin Stormhands
Prayers for a safe journey, Corin.
And I'm sorry to hear that your boss and once-friend is acting like a jerk. Power affects different folks in different ways.
