The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

We're watching "Indiana Jones Day" on Sci Fi.

What do think she'd say? :-)

And I wouldn't worry too much about folks not paying attention to the tattoo, chica. These days, they're so common that they are barely noticed in any situation short of a robbery.

But in chuu-urch... man, I can't do anything even mildly outrageous, can I?

Oh, Mom wouldn't care, not if it's henna and she can recognize henna. The fact that I spent, er, well over a hundred dollars on anime and crap this weekend, now that she might not be thrilled with, but it's my life, right?

Heh. It was in those decorating shows. The decorators didn't like the bold colors that were already there.

The one I liked was:

"It's so dark in here. Why don't we WASH THE WINDOWS!"

I have spent much more on much less, chica. It's part of life.

You buy all this stuff and then look back within 24 hours and say "What the heck was I thinking spending so much!?"

Live and learn. Besides, you like all the stuff you got, right? So enjoy it.

And the tattoo should be for you, not other folks. I think it's pretty cool. Didn't we say that we were all gonna try and get matching henna tattoos at one of our Moots one day?

We just couldn't decide on what to get....

Heh, yes, well, they're pretty cool! I wouldn't mind having them more often if I could put them on properly...

We could all get the ring inscription around our arms, only I think that would take forever and the henna artist would hate us.

I only have two items that are making me ask "what the heck was I thinking" so far, the fan and the, um, I don't really know what it is because it's in Japanese. And I'm very proud of all the things I didn't buy.

Other than buying the whole set of "Escaflowne", I was in budget, and even that wasn't... too much...

To: All
Evening, folks...

After church today I met one of my cousins for lunch.

He and I have been talking about sharing a 2-BR apartment because: (1) I live in a 90-year-old building above a bar, (2) he rents a room and use of the rest of the house from his sister, (3) neither of us can afford a "nice" 1-BR apartment in this town, and (4) our combined rents add up to what they charge for a 2-BR.

We saw a rather nice complex a couple of weeks ago, and thought to investigate it. Upon investigation, we found it to be of good report; today we went and talked to an official person* and saw the inside of one we would like.

Here's a couple things.

1. My cousin wants to be on the third floor. I'd rather be lower, but I can handle it.

2. It has a master bedroom with attached 3/4 bath and small walk-in closet, and another bedroom with the main, full bathroom right next to it. I think I'll suggest that if I give him being on the third floor I'll claim the master suite, and he may "own" the full bath with my compliments.

3. Most of the furniture will be mine. I'll need to buy a bed.

4. At some point or other someone is going to wonder about us. You know...Vermont...

We're holding off the final decision for another week. Prayer, casting up financial accounts and so on. We shall see.
.
.

*It's true! She was officially a person!
