Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

ROFL!!
He's catching lots of flack for saying last night was important because the Red Sox moved to 2 1/2 games behind the Yankees. (The Yanks won too, so the Sox are still 3 1/2 games behind.)

They were 2 1/2 games ahead before they weren't... you gotta catch the nuances, man.

Morning!
I have not read his speech yet... I figure he will cover the high points in the speech I will get to hear live this afternoon :D
I hope everyone has a fun holiday weekend planned.

ecurbh, what were those mountains you posted a pic of a couple days ago? The Purple Bells or something?

Things are okey-dokie. When they found her yesterday, she didn't deny it. I've just talked to her insurance company. The dealership where I bought the truck is on their "approved" list. All I have to do is take it in, get the estimate and have them set up a time to do the repair.
Told the wife, the damage really isn't that bad, and I could buff it out without much problem. BUT, since she ran away...I want a new bumper...

You didn't get to "have a word" with her? Does she suffer no repercussions for fleeing?

Yippee! I didn't have to go in today, thank goodness.
I've a bit to get done around here, so I'll check in later. :-)
(Any wind we do get will be tomorrow from what they're saying.)

I have not spoken with her directly and figure there's no point in stirring things up. I'm letting the police and the insurance company figure that out.
Her insurance did ask me if she'd left a note. I let them know that "no, she did not."
Replacing the bumper on the new truck (and that's what I'll fight for) will be a spendy proposition. She'll pay for it in her premiums.
And I can't help but think that someone this stupid doesn't already have a track record.

I bet her insurance drops her. I imagine fleeing is pretty well frowned upon and that's why they asked.
My car has all kinds of dents in the doors where people have whammed it with their doors. Makes me so mad, but there are never witnesses to something like that.

They are the Maroon Bells, in the
Maroon Bells - Snowmass Wilderness Area, outside of Aspen. Phenomenal hiking opportunities around there. I've hiked up to Buckskin Pass and Willow Pass (both around 12,000' elevation), Cathedral Lake (11,800') and Conundrum Hot Springs (11,400').
The view towards Snowmass from Buckskin Pass:

A side view of the Maroon Bells from Willow Pass:

The Conundrum Hot Springs hike was fairly long, about 10 miles one-way, deep into the wilderness area. Once you get there, there were rock pools set up to collect the spring water, so took off our boots and jumped in for a soak before hiking back.

ooo very nice. I will have to go there sometime. When I figure a good place to host some pictures I will put up some of the hikes I took earlier this year.
Speaking of pictures I will try to get some up tonight of the Bush event I am going to this afternoon.

Hopefully they allow photos! I know some of the folks who were at the various NH doin's over the last few months have said they prohibited photography in certain cases.
If we get to go hiking this weekend, I'll have to see if I can talk my brother into bringing his camera or letting me use it. There are some lovely views here! Not rocky mountains like in Colorado, but beautiful just the same.

Let's try to make this an adventure weekend - everyone do something, even a mundane adventure, and share pictures. Wish we could all be together and have a nice barbeque, though.
