Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I will give you some 'how to enjoy a con' advice. Take it or leave it but I found my pre-con stress fading just thinking about actually going for fun so I will send the advice anyway.
First off when you get there, check the line to the dealers room. It the room just opened there will be a big one, don't bother to go there yet then. If there is no line start with a nice pass through the dealers room and drool over all the goodies (don't buy anything yet unless you think it will not be there when you get back). If you see something you want, check to see if another vendor has ti cheaper. After that 'low pass' get out the program book and check over the panel schedule and video rooms schedule. Find the stuff that you grabs your attention and make a rough schedule of what to do later. You should hit at least one panel and at least a couple shows in the video rooms (if they have decent ones, hehe mine will rule). I think the best con experience involved staying at the hotel it is held in but that gets expensive unless you are splitting it with several friends and can plan far in advance. My first (anime) con was Anime USA out in Virgina. It was a spur of the moment college road trip from Indiana and we had an insane amount of fun.
I recommend Cell Painting as a fun workshop hearing some guest talk about the industry is a lot of fun also.

Mornin' again... Pool wuz closed at thuh gym (stormin') so I did the treadmill and watched thuh news.
~sigh~
Got thuh prescription for bifocals on Friday...
Tuhday the dentist says 1 root canal, 2 crowns...
Had tuh take a different way to work, regular way wuz flooded...(and that ain't from Ivan)
Had a voice mail from the wife sayin' "I've lost my wallet" (although she thinks she knows now where she left it at home)...
I think I'm gonna go ahead and schedule a colonoscopy just to make muh life complete.
Seriesly tho, got an incredible sense of peace about everything (okay I a bit concerned that I shoulda got gas on the way in to work). I've been listening to our new choir music CD. One of the songs really speaks to me...
No matter the storms that come my way,
No matter the trials I may face.
You promised that you would see me through,
So I will sing praise to you.
Amen. ;-)

Heh! I can relate! Joshua has a CD on it with a little kid's song that says:
I've got peace deep down inside of me,
God's peace and love have set me free!
Jesus says "Don't worry." That's good enough for me.
I've got peace deep down inside of me!
At the end you can hear "Peace like a River" being sung in the background. Very nice tune and I find myself singing it pretty frequently.

Heh...when she was in college, wife did a summer in Japan teaching English (it was a missions program). She played piano on Sundays for the Japanese congregation.
One morning the pastor had written in English for her the names of the hymns. The first one was "Peace Like a Liver."

Never been to any cons, except the homeschool kind. I'm going with the school anime club - don't have many friends yet, but one of my coworker/classmates is going. I'm excited.

Ah, the accursed 'free donuts'. We meet again. You many have one this round... ok every round... Blast!
To: Corin Stormhands
Corin, I'm beginning to think you should have a special term for non-Corin days; it seems like you get a lot fewer of those.
The way you handle yourself through all of life's idiocies is a very good example. I think you should know that.

I didn't do any gym stuff...I didn't wake up.
*sigh*
Sorry about the dental stuff! This is one reason I'm avoiding a checkup...I don't wanna know. But I'll be going pretty soon.

Hi everyone!
Can't stay, but I wanted to pop in to mark my place. *grin*
The dentist said that Alyson has bruised the nerve in that front tooth and that it will never go back to being white, but what we need to worry about now is infection. If it doesn't show up within the next couple of weeks, we're good to go.
If infection does show up, they'll have to pull her front tooth out. :-(
She was absolutely TERRIBLE at the dentist. I'm sooooo glad it's over.
Anyway, it's Becky's 7th birthday, so we're gonna take her out to one of those annoying pizza/games places for a bit and then to the library to decompress. See you all later!

Tell me about it... somehow I have this weird idea that the Bible study and the anime club balance out somehow, so I think I'll keep attending both.

I've had trouble off and on for the past week or so...I'm thinking maybe because of extra server load due to the documents scandal?
