The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

The classics never depreciate, ecurbh. It's the same reason you'l never find Monty Python in the bargain bin.

*wiping tears away* The mental picture of you squatting amongst goat entrails clutching a chicken foot

Apparently you are unfamiliar with common Lutheran practices. Yeesh... I thought the whole goat entrails part was well-known already.

Oops... wait a minute.. maybe I'm wrong...

Dangit... after a bit of research I have to report that I was wrong about that. The whole goat-entrails thing was actually something from the CNE (certified netware engineer) test... and not actually part of current practice on any religious or technologous belief system.

My apologies... I didn't realize that my methods were so out of date.

Nuts... now what am I supposed to do with all of these goats?

... though she doesn't look it here.

She has a serious look, but she doesn't look like she eats fryin' pans, no ;~D

Sigh... our previous church met in a converted office, then in a senior center while we built. But my church was beautiful and cozy and old, and the preaching was leagues better than anything I've found here, and we had an organ.

Well, other than the church, I'm happy here.

Yeah, but the Meaning of Life 2-disc special edition we bought today was only $15. I can see paying $40 for a 4 or 5 disc set, but Blues Brothers is not that.

I'll be praying for you to come across the right one, Jen. You've still got a bit of settling in to do, so I'm sure it'll appear soon. :-)

hehehe... I swear... there was a point in the installation manual for Netware 6.0 where they actually recommmended the sacrifice of a live goat... just to be sure...

OK... maybe not. But for anybody that has really worked in that world it does ring true...

Well, I don't know nuthin' about no Netware, but it appears you have to sacrifice a goat to get a Blues Brother DVD for under $30!

It's out of print at the moment, so they are asking tons for a copy.

You can get Blues Brothers 2000 for $5 though. *shudder*

Hehehe... tonight's last class had some people telling war stories. One guy claims that there's code out there that he wrote 25 years ago that's still being used. He wasn't proud of that fact. Another mentioned the common "I commented out this code six weeks ago, and nothing broke, but if I delete it I'll destroy the world" fear.

It's really a pain to work in such a superstitious field, isn't it?
