The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yeah! It was good!

The song that is on right now "I hope you dance" always makes me bawl.

I really like this man.

This speech was interesting, from a technical point of view. It was almost like a Concerto, or maybe a symphony in six movements. It began sorta mezzo piano... had the occasional Dolce moment... subsided into soft movements, then punched the occasional mezzo forte... dunno if it ever caught the fortissimo moment. Maybe for me but maybe not for others. But the movement when he started in about the difficulty of sending soldiers in harms way I thought there for a moment that he was just about to lose his composure and tear up.

In absolute terms he's delivered more powerful speeches... but this one did something extra.

I think we ~are~ in some kind of Bizarro universe.

You're in SanFran overhearing conservatives in a bar.... and over at DU there is France bashing and someone just posted a prayer thread.

I like that description! Ramius, are you secretly a poet?

I think it was a very good speech for his audience - sort of assuming we're all fired up to get him re-elected, and now laying out the logic of why he, not Kerry, ought to be President. I know that sounds backwards but it helps clarify why I'm voting for him. Other than all the obvious reasons.

Dubya done us proud, as always! :-D

I'm gonna try to hit the hay everyone. I don't know if they'll call me into work tomorrow, so I've got to get some rest if I can!

Good night!

Have a good night, and stay safe... (maybe your car should have trouble starting when you try to leave for work in the morning?)

I'm feeling all timpani on the brain cells today. I spent entirely too long in meetings with consultants and auditors this week... and I'm feeling very much fortissimo... to the point of violence.

I'm having very bad thoughts about Mister Sorbanes and Mister Oxley. Bad things. Hurtful things. Things involving vats of superheated and/or supercooled liquids. Or both.

Watching Lurch's "response"... I think he's making a big mistake.
