The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

They're scum, anyway. Ignore them.

Ok, got my program to another whole level of malfunctionality. I'm going to anime club. If the Pres declares war on France, let me know here.

I believe Breath Savers contains a sugar alcohol. It does not absorb into the body like sugar does...it passes through the body, drawing fluids with it. This causes a laxitive effect. Won't probably hurt ya, unless you have a metabolic disorder, but it's not something you want to live with for sure!

I eat a lot of sugar alcohol...prefer it over Splenda...doesn't bother me at all.

I still have this creepy feeling there's a disoriented dentist wandering around in the hole.

Good evening!

A new Hobbit Hole? Already? *wink*

Got everything settled here. House shuttered up, patio items stored away, supplies at hand, etc. I'm still a bit nervous about what we're gonna be facing, but I worked off a lot of that nervous energy with anger today.

My lovely employer announced yesterday (even sent a mass fax-out to clients) that the moment we were put under a warning, we would be closed. Not only did that NOT happen, but they had some folks stay until 5:30pm...one whose home is in an evacuation zone.

Before I left at 4:40, they reminded me to call in the morning because if the weather is good, we will be required to report to work until the weather begins to deteriorate. Fargin bastidges....

I don't want to report tomorrow and then have to fight tropical storm force winds on the way home.

What's the latest word on what ksen's doing? Is he staying behind with the f-i-l or did he bug out to some safer ground?

It is! Even the mayor said today that he wants all citizens to hunker down and wait this thing out, but not my boss.

Oh no. Heaven forbid! He even made a point to walk around the department late this afternoon yelling out "Good news! It's turning north! We can probably come in tomorrow!"

Good thing for cubicle walls. Many single digit salutes were offered from behind them.

Gee! Did he go ahead and make Friday a 'casual' dress day too? or ... Hawaiian day?... Just to ease the tension and improve moral you know.

If I were you and IF I actually went in, I think I would wear full rain gear. Yellow.

What a jerk...

I'd let you borrow my boss if it'd help...but he was basically a met major who ended up in the IT field almost accidentally...he'd probably be trying to talk all of you into standing on the beach to watch...

His sister is down there, and I think he's torn between worrying about her and wishing he could see this thing. ;-)

Well... if this ain't just queer... (little bay area humor there...)

Here I sit at a lobby bar in the heart of silicon valley, the bastion of whacked out liberalism... and a little ways away on the other side of the bar is a guy talking to what appears to be a couple of women co-workers, out for drinks. He's kinda loud. He's from Bangalore, India (I know this because he's loud) but he has a british accent. He's also a rabid and very articulate Republican. He's doing a very nice job of defending W and trashing democrats over there.

Huh. Here, of all places. It just stunes me beeber.
