The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

It would appear to be camouflaged well enough... :-)

So... yer huntin' *deer* right? That stand might be camo'd well enough to work in the bow season for liberals as well. Just a thought. :-)

yes... but I doubt the RAT has any clue as to just how difficult it is... I've only done it a couple of times in places where I knew where the deer were, and the only way to get close enough for a shot was on my belly... it is not the recommended method...

Maybe someone should tell JFnK that.

How's about my favorite... "Che gelida manina" from La Boheme, by Puccini. Or "Una furtiva lagrima" from L'Elisir d'Amore by Donizetti.

yah... I understand states that require hunting with shotguns, even if I don't like it... but doing belly crawls for deer...?? Maybe I'm off base here, but even if you do it now and then, it's an odd way to describe the hunt.

I will admit to being nothing like the great white hunter. I have hunted [though not lately] and I did and would still enjoy it. My method was always "still-hunting". Move. stop. listen. move. stop. listen... repeat as needed. The areas that I hunted didn't work so well to make a "stand" type setup, but that's also a useful technique.

When it comes to Kerry and his hunting exploits... I guess the essence of the matter is that I just don't buy it coming from him. Pretty much nomatter what he says.
