I heard a new song this morning on my way into work on my XM Radio from Megadeth called Die Dead Enough. I didn't know they were back together after Dave Mustaine hurt his arm.
I got to work and on my break I went to take a look at their web site (www.megadeth.com). I took a look at the cover of their new album "The System Has Failed." I was disappointed at what I saw. The link is the cover of the album (http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0002SPQ1I.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg).
I do not know if there are any anti-songs on there because there isn't a song by that title. What are some conservative heavy metal fan thoughts on this. I never knew them to be political.
Didn't Mustaine go born-again Christian a fews years back? A friend of a friend of mine babysat his son a few times (when Mustaine was in Nashville cutting an album) and said the kid was totally berzerk.
I will check that out as well
So, that means that in 5 years, Mustaine will realize he is a libertarian and in another 5 (maybe 10...if he is alive) he'll be conservative.
If he gets mugged by a street thug, probably sooner.
I am as metal head as anybody, and trust me, this record kicks major patriotic ass. It is fast, pounding, and sweeping like Maiden.
Not sure if he found God, I know he quit drinking. But he's still firmly entrenched in his mentality of hating pretty much all authority figures, which makes sense why his kid would be a hellion.

Mustaine, who I believe lives in AZ, has always been a wannabe politico. I remember the early days of "rock the vote" on MTV and his role on it. While I'm glad to see heavy metal get into the mix, Dave's got it all wrong. Heavy Metal is about strength and telling it like it is, at least for me. Metallica has a song on the Black album, "don't tread on me", and it says,"to secure peace, is to prepare for war." ROGER THAT!!

Dave is the only remaining member of Megadeth. He fired the rest of the band..so this is his new band. All you need to learn about Megadeth's politics is to listen to the album Rust In Peace and the track Holy Wars. That song was written around the time of the Gulf War and absolutely kicks ass.
While the band generally has say over their album cover, few cover artists are actually members of the band. GWAR's members are cartoonists and the like.
I remember a Slayer interview in a guitar magazine (can't remember which one) a few years ago where they touted Rush heavily. The interviewer was not amused!
Now that you mention it. I thought so too.
Then there's Blue Oyster Cult with their song, "Divine Wind" - released during the Carter Administration and Iran hostage crisis...
"If he really thinks we're the Devil, then let's send him to hell"
I think that was the first heavy rock song I ever heard that seemed to have a conservative viewpoint.
I'm about 70% certain he became a Christian and was pretty gung-ho about it. It seems like these entertainment-industry types sometimes turn to Christianity but burn out quickly. Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and Jane Fonda come to mind (don't know if this applies at all to Mustaine, just noting it as a FWIW).

Slayer is my favorite band too!!!! They kick major Metallica butt. They have been the most consistent, non wavering, fast, heavy, brutal, band of all time. South has the most awesome songs, but the rest are all great too.
If you listen to the song "Silent Scream", it sounds very anti abortion to me.

For all the hype about Satanism etc, Tom Araya claims he is a religious person.
I don't know if Clapton burned out so much as became a Sunday morning guy. Also depends on when and how, oddly enough in metal the conversions frequently run the same course as President Bush, finding God on the way out of a wild lifestyle that will end badly soon. Ozzy and Alice went that route. Folks whose life came down to a choice between God and dead tend to stay pretty gung-ho.
