In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

acclivity \ah*kliv*itee\, noun:
acclivities; noun, plural
acclivitous; adjective

1. An upward slope
2. Ascending, ascent

It prompted the matron to say that she would walk a little way--as far as to the point where the acclivity from the valley began its first steep ascent to the outer world.
--Thomas Hardy, Tess of the d'Urbervilles - A Pure Woman

Etymology: Latin acclivites, from acclivis, uphill: ad-, ad- + clivus, slope; see klei- in Indo-European Roots.]

Given the hatred and acivility of GW Bush being fed by the mass media in the national press corpse, winning the election will be an uphill cline as he tries to win the hearts and minds of the American people.

In fact, it'd be easier to win the US election if the Iraqi civilians could vote and the illegal Mexicans could not!

"Women like a man who can put up, or shut up. Nick.

"Men like a woman who can put out and shut up."

CG, Hobbes, Argh nod thoughtfully, but (wisely) don't say anything.

We were past twenty years before that book came out.

NicknamedSue thinks that she is Hyacinth, and that I am Richard.

It is an older British comedy about a very overbearing woman, Hyacinth, and her poor husband.........She is from a family of 4 sisters - one is a very overweight slob, one is a major slut, and the other is wealthy but married to a cross dresser........lol

Hyacinth is all about appearances, thus the name of the show "Keeping Up Appearance".......it is so funny.....
