In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

acclivity \ah*kliv*itee\, noun:
acclivities; noun, plural
acclivitous; adjective

1. An upward slope
2. Ascending, ascent

It prompted the matron to say that she would walk a little way--as far as to the point where the acclivity from the valley began its first steep ascent to the outer world.
--Thomas Hardy, Tess of the d'Urbervilles - A Pure Woman

Etymology: Latin acclivites, from acclivis, uphill: ad-, ad- + clivus, slope; see klei- in Indo-European Roots.]

well i couldn't have married someone like that, don't you think that we end up with whom we are meant to, the one that suits us? i would shy away from someone overly demonstrative and mushy, so it would never get to the point of marriage. and you would have dumped xshub for his lack of demonstrativeness etc.

see Arghy and i see eye to eye on this. we are all about talking dirty rather than talking mushy, right arghy? ; )

Absolutely, xs! However, I must pick a nit and take issue with one thing you said:

don't you think that we end up with whom we are meant to, the one that suits us?

Given that there are aboot 6 billion people on the planet, aboot 3 billion of the opposite sex, chances are we're not going to meet the one "we are meant to". I think most of us settle, to some degree or another.

i think God puts people in our path. i believe in a divine plan. not predestination or anything, because i think God's plan can be altered by our responses and actions. my room mate lives in Ireland and has never gotten married. that could just as easily have been me. i believe i was meant to end up with xshub. if God had wanted me with you, he would have put you in my path : )

God did you a big favour not putting me in your path. But you should see some of the dreck God put in my path! On second thought, maybe you shouldn't...

"I think most of us settle, to some degree or another."

I've settled a lot. Mostly around my waist.

am i the only one interested in the dropping of Kobe charges? that case has fascinated me from the get-go. not because i like kobe, i have no feelings for him one way or another, and as i have said from day one, i am sure CONDIT, PETERSON, HACKING, MICHAEL JACKSON et al are guilty. but i have felt from day one that this girl was not the real deal and was looking for a scam or celebrity. now i have it on good authority that it wasn't anal sex she was upset about, but oral. i had to ask someone because i couldn't figure out what they were trying to say this past weekend on fox bc they couldn't TALK about it.

I was beginning to think the Kobe charges would be dropped-it was just becoming soooo obvious what that woman was up to-and besides, I was really getting tired of hearing about her soiled panties-what a nasty heifer!

Yes, I have seen those commercials-they run them in the morning during the breaks in Fox and Friends here-right next to the ones for the new drug for erectile dysfunction-talk about timing. My hubby and I are not mushy types, either-whenever those commercials come on, he sticks his finger in his mouth and makes gagging noises-they are like having a bucket of Karo syrup dumped over your head...

Once again, Dan says "hi" to everyone. :)

I met up with him outside the hotel where the Michigan delegation is staying and took him on the very first NYC subway ride of his life. We went down to the WTC site and met up with another freeper, who's a very close friend of mine, and showed him the site and then took a walk to Wall Street -- the NYSE and Federal Hall.

Next up was a subway trip to the East Village, where Dan was not particularly fazed by the living freak shows around us. We headed for lunch at my favorite Afghan restaurant, and then hit McSorley's Old Ale House -- the oldest Irish pub in the country. (Their slogan is "We were here before you were born") Dan made a new friend - a guy named Richard who tied his black lab's leash to the bar and was chatting him up something fierce. ;)

I'll probably see him again tomorrow at the big FR breakfast in midtown. So, if anyone has any messages for him, I'll pass them along.
